    Is this objectively true?

I agree with you here though. I can't bring myself to judge what has been described. I do wonder though how big this industry would be if people truly had the time and resources to nurture themselves and their relationships. I really do wonder how much of this stems from being so disconnected from who we are as individuals as well as each other. I always wonder about that.
    Mmmh...

    Such a good point...

I don't think it does that much. People who struggle with issues like that are unhealthy - it's their own problem, not the industry's. And it's unfair to blame someone for choosing to be a part of it. This would be like condemning cigarettes because it's unhealthy for people, even though it's the person's problem for choosing to smoke them.

I just get a little emotional when I'm understood when I don't expect to be.

Okay this is what I expected haha. I'm not blaming anyone...really. just wondering how things might be different.

    All kinds of people, possibly.

Their parents, their brothers and sisters, their friends, their neighbors, their community, and/or society as a whole.

    So young.

    So individualistic.

I remember when I thought just like you.

Hmm, I can see how her family/neighbors/community could be condemned by association with her, but then that goes back to the problem that she shouldn't really be labeled as "amoral" for what she decides to do with her body. Society as a whole is a broader topic I really don't have the energy to talk about.

I find a strong dichotomy inside myself for longing to connect deeply and needing to run away from everyone and become a hermit. It is an unsettling dichotomy and I end up looking for another person who is similar to share those same needs with. I recently had a conversation with a friend where I said, "when I connect I need it to be real and deep, and when I'm alone, it needs to be pure and solitary. Living in the middle tears me in two."
