Default Tell us about your pets!

I'm especially interested in unusual pets, i.e. not cats, dogs, hamsters, parakeets, goldfish, etc.

    Snakes? Hedgehogs? Potbellied pigs?

Pets in the suburbs? Pets in an apartment?

What was/is your pet ownership experience like? What was/is your pet's personality? Are/were they affectionate?

I once had a pet pig named Headache.
    He was intelligent and stubborn.
He liked to be talked to and he liked to eat dogfood and corn. He also liked to run around with the shetland ponies.

    Now I have turtles.

When I was little, I brought home a crab from the beach in a bucket, with the naive intention of keeping it as a pet. It was dead by the morning.

So my mother cooked it and we had it for lunch.

Unusual, huh? My parents had a pet skunk before I was born. They turned it over to our nature reserve when it got to be too big. If I dig around in pictures there should be a few pics of him.

I have a little girl cat named Duckie (she was named by my ex; but I must say, I don't think she cares what I call her).
She has blotchy markings like a calico, but also stripes like a tiger. She's a street refugee, and still pretty wild most times. She rarely relaxes, but I still like her most times. She also strikes me as very aware of her surroundings, and seems to be pretty intelligent.

I had the opportunity to have a turtle twice. The first one escaped. The second embraced it's freedom as well. Yup, you might see a pattern there.
Now I have 3 cats, definitely more suitable for my character

I had a friend who owned a pair of sugar gliders. They were pretty boring, actually. Cute, but nocturnal, so I never got to see them do anything interesting.

I once thought about purchasing an ant farm. That never actualized, though, so I cannot speak about what it is like to have an ant farm.

Maybe is a good idea you didn't get one, being a dog an all you'd probably end up eating them :P
