High ceiling with high windows in the living room up stairs, made of wood. My guitar room would be underground, along with the kitchen and the bed room that are made of stone. All lights will have a dimmer and with recessed lighting. Color scheme would be winter upstairs, but autumn downstairs.

For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

Sometimes I think a hobbit hole would be great and sometimes I think a little farm out in the sticks, but that's probably not very realistic.

What I'd probably really do is buy something like this:

It's near downtown and a block or two from the public library. The neighborhood is shitty, so I'd buy the houses around it, which are probably broken up into crappy apartments, and tear them down. I'd have the house renovated within an inch of it's life. Then I'd put up one of those pretty metal white picket fences to keep in my professionally trained guard dog. I don't want my stuff getting lifted but I cannot stand to live around people that get hemorrhoids if my grass gets a little tall.

Edit: When I had the house renovated, I'd have some hidey-holes and secret passages put in in the top floor for my grandkids/nieces and nephews to "discover" and hide some old toys and books in there so they'd have plenty of time to get dusty.

There would be a big computer room. My bedroom would have a bathroom with a two-person tub attached. I'm not too picky otherwise.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

It would be a combination between the styles of David Bromstad and the Novogratz: Bright colors, modern, clean lines, abstract, somewhat futuristic.
