Oh, I guess people have been describing their interior design aesthetics, so I might as well describe mine:

1) I have a hard time with interior design catalogs, sometimes, because everything is so impersonal. Part of what I love about seeing people's houses, yards, apartments, etc, is seeing what those spaces say about the person. Even if a place is eye-rollingly uncreative -- e.g. "I bought literally everything from this Urban Outfitters catalog's living room page and put it into my living room, including the artwork" -- it still says that they're trying to portray a particular image. But for whatever reason, when a space is too stark, too 60's modern, too damn color-coordinated, I have a hard time with it. I can't read it. Hard to explain, sorry. But either way, personal touches in design are my favorite, especially antiques and travel souvenirs that I can tell were handed down through the family, or at least have a story behind them.

2) I like it when rooms are a little busy, and when there's a lot to look at. It makes a place look cozier, and

3) I love cozy spaces. I am the opposite of claustrophobic (i.e. claustrophilic?), and when a space is small and cozy, I feel enveloped in a nice warm interior design blanket. Especially when plaid and/or Pendleton blankets are involved!

4) Plants and natural light are the best. :)

So! More pix:

EJCC I actually really love that cluttered room, it has a feel of a busy person with much sentiment. :wubbie:
Thanks! :) I think I described it on my Pinterest as "a cozy nest of clutter"

I'm of the opinion that there's good clutter and bad clutter; bad clutter makes you a slob, but good clutter gives character. No clutter at all means you're just creepy. Do you not even live in that house?? Where are the stacks of magazines?!?

(I like that apartment, btw. The wood is a great touch -- and I love the industrial feel of the main room, with high ceilings and pipes and such. I'm a sucker for that!)
