Does anyone know much about avacado trees? My neighborhood has a shiton of avacados in fruit right now, and I wanna ask around to see if I can get some freebies :P . Some of the fruits on the trees are now acquiring a purplish color, and the fruits look to have a thick bumpy skin. Would this be the Dickinson variety that I heard was produced in LA (I live in San Diego)? At what point should I pick the fruits?
