All I do is go camping. I live to camp. Before I totaled my car a month ago, I always was prepared...just incase an adventure would present itself.

First of all, I always made sure I had a ziplock bag full of dryer lint and popcicle sticks or some other tinder. Dryer lint is a nice fire starter to have on hand and it catches quick. Of course your tent and your sleeping bag. Maybe an acoustic guitar, harmonica, or lap top. But the laptop should be just for music only. Actually...nix that. Leave it at home. Make sure you go to the liquor and six pack store to load up on booze. And get some good food!! Bring a grate to put some cookware on. Chili is good camping food. Hot dogs on sticks. Eggs and bacon and toast in the morning. Smores!! Mountain pies!! Whatever you want. But keep it simple and just kick back and have fun.

I am Thedore Roosevelt and I plan a year-long hunting trip with my eldest son in which we rove Africa and collect all manner of specimens for the Museum of Natural History. We bring a collection of some of the world's finest rifles, and drink some of the world's best beer and liquor while on safari.

    How's that?

Best part is, it actually happened.

My problem is that my siblings will get board if there is no "group activity." They're not interested in relaxing, cooking over a fire, or watching nature. I may be interested, but they're not.

The trip is supposed to be a week long. If they get tired of being away from an internet connection, they will cancel the trip from under me- regardless of whether or not it's my birthday. This is why I'm trying to plan out activities for them (and me) to do, so they won't leave after the first night.

So I guess it would be more helpful if I explain their likes and dislikes.

    • Likes watching Ranma ½, Naruto, and Star Wars
    • She’s interested in psychology (though not inkblots, relational psychology quizzes, or debating what particular drives and tendencies dictate how a personality will react to any given circumstance)

    Hates
    • Hates cooking at all
    • Hates painting, coloring, drawing, scrap booking, molding clay, or any other physical arts and craft activity.
    • Is not interested in nature (she’s of the opinion that flowers are boring and tracking animals is too tough)
    • Being in charge (being in a position of power) for any event.
    • Speculating about the after life, or even why people believe in an after life.
    • Hates being proven wrong
    • Hates card games

    Suggestions:

You can play games around the campfire, or go for a hike, maybe see if there's somewhere you could go canoeing/kayaking, maybe there's some sort of visitor's center at the location where you're going where you could read about the landforms and wildlife of the area or go stargazing and try to identify the different constellations. Bring a pack of cards. Bring a silly game like apples to apples or something...
Your kisses, sweeter than honey. But guess what, so is my money.

Some things that go with me on any sort of trip - but definitely on a camping trip.
    Wildflower identification guide - I prefer Newcomb's
    Bird identification guide - I like Sibley's
    Binoculars
    Notepad/pencil
    ----
    In addition:
A book on foraging in whatever area you're in, like this one.
Are there any survivalist skills that intrigue you? There is a lot of info available.
Star identification guide or chard unless someone with you knows this stuff already.

    'nuff - enjoy!!
