i have learned to like nature, but flowers are still meaningless to me. actually they are the symbol of narcissism to me. they have a pretty selfimage but no true character at all. they are just standing around feeling way more special than the rest of nature.

"Deep inside you are ten thousand flowers. Each flower blossoms ten thousand times. Each blossom has ten thousand petals. You might want to see a specialist."

the only flower name i know is Carlina Acaulis

my mother had a thing with Carlina Acaulis (Silver thistle)
... a good symbol for a selfless Fi person who borderlines on autism

OMG - I have just been posting in the Garden sub-forum.

nonnok, flowers are all about plant sex! The plants are making love with those little appendages, all fluffy and pretty. It's far more exciting than the sex thread...

    The wattle, Australia's flower.

We constantly remind ourselves that, "there is no blood on the wattle", as we gained out independence and united a whole continent without killing anyone.

And just as winter seems to be getting too long, the wattle bursts into bloom.

Whole trees are just a mass of pure yellow and gold.

I walk into the wattle tree until I am covered in yellow blooms dripping with golden pollen. I not only put my nose into the wattle, but my whole body.

And I emerge, covered in a golden dust from head to toe - Australia Felix.

My favorites are dandelions. I loved grabbing them when they were seeding and blowing on them to see all the seeds disperse wild and free. Then they would parachute and land wherever and just grow unattended. I felt like one during my first skydive. They are so pretty. And when I see one in bloom, I know that the honey bee season has started. I have such a warm spot for those flowers and their absence is the only thing that I lament about being in the city.

I'm not that drawn to or impressed by cultivated flowers, although of course they're pretty. But I DO go crazy over wildflowers. It's hard for me to pick a favorite, but I guess this would be the winner right now -

    @Halla

It's not a flower. And furthermore, the true flowers of Cannabis sativa are aesthetically uninteresting (green, and very small).

    So go away, you troll.

    ---

Flowers are complex organs. Their colors and fragrances are here to attract attention, our attention. They are an hymn to life, a powerful symbol.

Actually, there are so many plants I'd like to show you. So many. Even a field of red poppies shares an intrinsic magic. And what can compare the poetry of a single Forget-me-not?

But nonetheless, Orchids are often my favorites, they're (by far) the largest and most complex family of flowering plants, anyway...

    For instance:

Jumellea (Faham) is a night-flowering specie from Madagascar that attracts moths and men alike. Its fragrance is beyond compare, thanks to the coumarin.

    ---

Pleione is a genus of small lithophytic plants from the mountains of Asia...

    ---

And another dwarf orchid, the Sophronitis coccinea (ie: grandiflora), from high humid elevations in Brazil. In greek, Sophron (??????) means "modest".

    I don't care!

He is an attention-seeking troll. That's the truth. But I forgive him, maybe he has pushed iron a little too much and too far, or too close to his brain... Who knows?
