Check out this gallery page for the most awesome planted tank pics. They are BREATHTAKING works of art!

That same site has an "About Planted Aquarium" page with extensive info on lighting, CO2 supplementation, etc.

I've been to their San Francisco store a couple times...what a treat!

Bah, I can't view it on the school computers because they don't have the flash/shockwave/java/etc plugins installed.

    Someday, I'll be that good! Someday...like...when I'm 80.

Lake Malawi Cichlids (eg Mbuna) for the win.

Don't need plants, as they like rocky bare tanks. 40 gallons isn't a bad size, and very hardy.

It helps to work out if your water is hard or soft before working out which fish to keep. My water is hard, thus the Rift valley cichlids.
