    It's usually the least hideous option available at bars around here (I'm a dark ale drinker- I HATE mass produced American lagers!)

    It is a density/taste/consistency thing.

    I hate most milk shakes, as well.

    Guinness is like a super thick beer shake.

    Guiness is okay, I guess... and I'm a fan of all the British top-fermented styles, as a rule. There are just styles I like better than the old dry stout. I'd much rather drink an IPA or an Imperial, or even a barleywine for that matter.
