I haven't noticed this but it's usually due to lifestyle habits. Asian people tend to age more slowly due to culture rather than race, because of holistic preventative medicine (massage, spa treatments, nutrition, Asian women are likely to get facials and lymphatic drainage), I know because I am into some of this stuff and people tell me I look younger than I am, and Far East Asian cultures in particular will advocate certain practices for maintaining youthfulness.

American men on average could have more stressful lives or worse habits than European people due to culture. I imagine it's pretty calming to live in a socialist country where you are promised health care and education across the board. You may on average eat fresher food.

I would say you are largely steretyping, but there may be cultural reasons.

Other factors include The Great American Rat Race (it is apparently much harder to get "downsized" or "outsourced" in Europe; the stress of constantly having to *prove* your worth at work, just to keep a job, including long hours and relatively little vacation); the American addiction to junk food; and addiction to the automobile in lieu of walking.

(Example of the last: I once worked with an American project manager who had a year-long stint in Prague. While there, he drank three beers a day, and still lost 30 pounds during the year: because he had to *walk* everywhere to get around.)

Don't tan. Detox twice a year. Eat raw vegies. Sleep. Wash your face with cold water. Have I said don't tan? Naturally or artificially.

Have to take into account that there are no "American" men since most of you Caucasian guys have European blood. I'd say, there are only different lifestyles and diets, and the American one may push you to age faster. And it is the same for men and women. In your early 20s to early 30s, you guys are so youthful and good looking in our Asian eyes lol. But when you hit late 30s, BAMMM! All the years catch up at once.

This!!!

For me as an South Asian Europeans look really good till they are about 35-40. Afterwhich they look 60.

East Asians on the contrary ALL LOOK ALIKE seem to age quite slowly. I think this has a lot to do with whiter skin being less tolerant to UV rays/lack of melanin.

South Asians seem to look the best after they reach 25.

Walking is good for you. It should make one look healthy and younger, not older. People always tell me I look younger and that I have beautiful muscular legs, many environmentalists walk and use public transportation on purpose.

My mother's great aunt lived to be 96 and my mother credits her walking and gardening.

Never mind I misunderstood your post, having to walk was the swift kick in the ass he needed. Yeah, car dependent, yeah.

Hmm yes i have noticed european countries (austria germany england russia) have really good public transport systems. Especially underground train systems. These made me really jealous.

Anyway, due to these public transport systems people would walk quite a bit than hop into a car or a taxi. NOT TOO MUCH. Maybe about 3 kms per day. Obesity makes people look old and one really good way to look young is to lose weight. Walking dear children is the best. Europeans in general walk more i believe due to the above. The weather is aslo perfect for walking and there isn't much humidity. One doesn't sweat too much like here.

Going back to the usa, come to think of it they have quite a lot of sexy mature people. Where i come from one seldom sees a hot 60 year old. I am sure usa has many.

What i am trying to say is it's a conscious effort and not entirely dependent on genetics.

Plus of course psychological factors.

But what are the psychological factors that make American men age faster?

Yeah why American out of the rest of humanity is specially related to our topic?

Because a cultural comparison is being made.

You could take the demographics of breast cancers, for example. You can pull up stats of all women, or you can break them down into smaller, more localized demographics based on a variety of factors. Nuns have been singled out as being amongst the highest suffers of the female population as a whole, and have been encouraged to begin taking contraceptives to combat their risks (which have been correlated to pregnancy and breastfeeding).

Well, mbti is an American cult, so naturally Americans are interested in themselves and not so interested in anyone else.

Uh… that’s just, incorrect.

Incorrect? Incorrect? My dear Mademoiselle?

I understand mbti was created by two Americans Mrs Briggs and her daughter Mrs Myers. Mbti is imbued with American values posing as universal values.

And increasingly we can see on Typology Central that criticism of American values or mbti is increasingly sidelined by the expedient of claiming such criticism is 'off topic' or sent to the Graveyard.

For instance, the administrator and owner himself advises we read that archtypical American tract, How to Win Friends and Influence People, which promulagates the very worst of American values.

At the same time it is true we could be promulgating the very best of American values such as freedom of speech, creativity in thought, language, and music and art, self confidence and personal energy, a secular government that guarantees freedom of religion or none.

This thread is about why American men age faster, not about MBTI or book recommendations of the site owner. Feel free to start a separate thread about either of those things.

I'd say it's lifestyle, stress. lack of exercise, not enough sleep, poor diet. Processed foods are probably one of the worst things ever invented.

+1 on the poor diet and lack of exercise. A person doesn't have to be overweight to be, and look, unhealthy.

Whatever this is not even a reason to support what you said.
*Face palm*
MBTI is not a type indicator for americans.
And this forum is not only about americans.
It’s about humans.

And nothing at all to do with the Protestant Work Ethic. And nothing to do with the belief that prosperity is sign of God's grace, and nothing at all to do with the belief that poverty is a sign of God's disfavour.

And nothing to do with the historical fact that the USA is based on print, and so based on the literate individual face to face now with etribes in the global village.

And nothing at all to do with the fact that literate America exploded outwards, but now electronic America is imploding inwards.

So we might conclude that American men are being torn to pieces between the outside and the inside. And this is why they flock to sites dealing with extroversion and introversion, the inner and the outer.

Can Typology Central save the American male?
