If it's loud, heavy, fast or a combination of, it usually does the trick for me.

When it comes to cardio and weight training music, I need a fast (or fast enough) tempo.

A few examples (listed in no particular order):
Gorrilaz - Feel Good Inc.
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
Sara Bareilles - King of Anything
Linkin Park - Waiting For The End
Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten
Baby Bash - Suga Suga
Foo Fighters - The Pretender
Smash Mouth - All Star
All-American Rejects - Gives You Hell
Fuel - Shimmer

Hmm. I tend to have a different playlist for the different types of workout;

For lifting weights, usually Metal or rock of some kind

In no particular order, songs that usually make my weight lifting playlist.
Korn - Coming Undone
Marilyn Manson - The Beautiful People
Celldweller - Eon
Five Finger Death Punch - Dying Breed
Bush - Little Things

I usually run to artists like Pendulum, Shinedown, I Fight Dragons, Celldweller, Anberlin.. and there's some stuff from newgrounds that I enjoy running to. I usually keep songs in one of 3 tempos for running;

Jog (Interval Rest) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkCQck0D0qg

Sustained pace (running 5 miles or more) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQoN1qWIWP4

Run (interval sprint) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynVaDvozT2w

Workout Music

What music do you like to work out to?

I am seriously thinking of keeping up with boxing for exercise even after my 10 class promotion expires. Full-price the classes are pretty expensive though, so I think I'll do some drills and stuff on my own and then go to class 1-2 times per week. I will need some music though, for drills. I like the music the boxing club plays, but it's not the type of music I'd typically have on a playlist. Way too hard core. Eminem. DMX. Linkin Park. Etc. But it totally works with the boxing/kickboxing.

Anything and everything... but, Guns N' Roses, why not?

I use Spotify a lot on my phone when I work out, or various other mp3 players I have.

It seems like electronic/house/trance is popular among people who work out in LA.

Electronic/trance/techno or Hard-Rock/Heavy-Metal, sometimes rock/rap.

You know...., energy. The more energy, the better.

EDIT: Wow. not too different from my old post.

Linkin Park is the one of the best bands for cardio, imo. For weightlifting I prefer something more dark, like Disturbed.

Working out is way too boring for me- I prefer like bicyling somewhere, or doing other vigorous activities that will produce the same desired result while getting other things squared away, as well. That said, whenever I do these things- take bicycling somewhere, for example- I prefer power metal.
Move mountains. Slay dragons. Glory on the horizon, etc. /dork

If this doesn't add a new level of buckwild to your workout, then something's wrong.

Cycling playlist/routine

If I'm lazy and just want to cycle, I have a giant playlist for varying tempos, but each tempo of song has a different action you have to complete for the song. Then I turn that sucker on shuffle.

My things - Dragonette (warm up, each minute increase rpm until at 80 for the last minute, with about 12/20 resistance)
With a Heavy Heart - Does it Offend You Yeah - Hills, increase resistance by two turns every 30sec)
Harder to Breathe (The Cool Kids Remix) - Maroon 5 Feat the Cool Kids (Sprints, 30 sec on, 30 sec off, all seated)
Lemme Get That - Rihanna (Standing hill climb)
Revolver - Madonna (Sprints)
Woohoo (feat Nicki Minaj) - Christina Aguilera (This one makes me giggle the most, which is good when your legs are already jelly. Sitting, kick up the rpm to at least 80, aim for 100 is possible. Everytime you hear the euphemism "woohoo," jump up into standing and sit back down again without losing your pace)
Only man - Audio Bullys (Sprints!!!!!!)
Hook me up - The Veronicas (MORE SPRINTS OMG)
Saturday Night's Alright - Elton John (Standing Sprints)
I love it - Icona Pop (PUSH UPS!)
XO - Beyonce (Cool down)

Subscribed because I seriously need recommendations.

I usually end up listening to hard rock, classic rock, metal, punk rock, or some combination of the above -- alternating between slow and fast. (I get bored with the same mood/pace all the way through.) Went on a nice run last week while listening to the first 2/3 of "Dookie" by Green Day.

A pretty mixed bag. Everything from pop, screamo, to show tunes.

When I listen to Defying Gravity I tell myself that if Elphaba can make it on her own and fly, I can finish this mile!
