    Wal-Mart, the authority on everything.

Looking back on it, I do think that she more meant it was disgusting to put your fingers in your body after touching the bathroom door, potentially the stall door and knob and maybe even brushing up against the wall. Though, honestly, cleaning your hands before you go into the stall is sanitary enough.. the build of bacteria is the problem (i.e. touching everything in the store, or in the house, and then the bathroom stuff and THEN your body), not the presence of it, so washing your hands before as the website requests should fix that germ-y factor. If you're REALLY worried, washing your hands and then using hand sanitizer after you're seated and situated fixes all of that.

But to be honest, I've dealt with situations where we had no toilet paper, no sanitary stall/bathroom (sometimes just a hole in the ground), and other such factors and I've never had a lady problem that involved unsanitary conditions in temporary times.. Only in extended times (i.e. the time we were sweating constantly without showering or changing for many days out in the field doing work and not having proper facilities for latrines or things like toilet paper.. The army now does this awesome thing where females must be taken to a proper showering facility for hygienic reasons, but they didn't always do that.)

Even if you didn't wash your hands, you wouldn't get 'sick' from touching yourself or your lady cup. Most likely.

I mean, seriously lady, you seem to have some issues with your own body.
Though, to be honest, this is the mentality of a lot of Americans (I don't know if Nerd girl is american or not though.) Many Americans find vaginas, blood, and menses to be disgusting and gross. Its an annoying mentality that's been prevalent for a long time now. I've only just recently heard of men who will talk to each other openly about having sex with their wives/girls on their period without being grossed out. Usually if they did it, they'd hide the fact from others.. Lately it's become a bit more open. like a "So what? We did it in the shower, it's cool.." attitude instead of a "Nah man thats gross! (.. but yes, sometimes..)" attitude.

Okay so she specifically means someone taking out or inserting the cup in a public restroom. That's the only way her argument seems valid to me. Of course, as someone who has enthusiastically engaged in outdoor sex multiple times, I'm really not the kind of person to only perform sexual acts in a freshly laundered bed in my own house with the lights properly dimmed.

I also don't get bacterial infections. The bacteria in the vagina can be managed quite well with things like garlic, live probiotic cultures, plain yogurt, and perhaps an occasional vinegar and water douche. Bacterial infections have a very particular repellent odor. I tend to be more concerned from getting them from uncircumcised men than from menstrual products.

Yes, Americans are ridiculous prudes...and conversely it's why they're so fixated on pornography. I'm very thankful I didn't grow up in this kind of prudish family.

Of course Nerd Girl is American. She seems to believe that what is marketed by a low-budget corporate chain is the authority on what is or isn't Best Product.

Clearly, if Chanel made fine clothes, they would be sold at Wal-Mart.

Recap from when I posted a year ago:

Ablation didn't work. But was horrible trying to recover from.

I think I wanna try these things!

Re gross period blood: I know people who won't nurse because it grosses them out. Everyone's got some issues about something.

@kyuuei I like a little ketchup with my steak and most men I know have their red wings. Ime girls have been more prudish about this than I have
For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

Kyuuei, forgive me if I've asked you this before, but have you tried Depo shots? or do you have any interest in stopping your period for a few months by use of hormones?

These are more my concerns. Humans are as nasty as we allow ourselves to be.. Sometimes men think they can get away with more than they really can. At least in my experience. On the bright side, I've also noticed men aren't usually as grossed out or germaphobe-like as women tend to be, so I guess it balances out.

Im glad you made an update, I had been considering that for a short while! I just placed my order for a starter set today. I ordered a Diva cup starter kit, a bottle to fill with solution to wash it with, 7 reusable panty liners, 2 heavy flow pads with liners and an extra overnight insert for each, a mesh bag to keep it separate from my laundry, and a special detergent with enzymes to break down blood. I'm going to follow the websites' recommendations and see how it all works, and I'll report back in a month and then 6.

Most men I know do too.. There are occasional men that don't and complain.. I tend to find they're boys or younger when they have that attitude. Same with the girls.. Although I know a couple who simply say it grosses them out, but really they just want a break from sex and a week to themselves

I have not actually. My plan currently is to sterilize myself with an ensure or whatever it's called later on in life, and for now just stick to good old fashioned careful sex and finding things to make menses less of an inconvenience for my crazy schedule. Have you tried it? did it have any adverse effects? I'm becoming more of a hippy by the day, so hormones are starting to freak me out slowly but surely. Birth control is just a no-no for me right now.

That's awesome. I just ordered for me and "someone else" (who probably will be grossed out by the blood.) (my daughter)

I got both the Diva Cup (one pre childbirth one post) and the soft cups which seemed to only come in one size on amazon

I guess today is the day to order menstrual cups

Guess so! I think the soft cups only come in one size because of the way they are positioned. menstrualcupinfo on youtube shows a couple demonstrations on the diva cup VS the soft cups, they're really different in the way that they work.

Oh, I also found out NOT to search pink lady instead of lady cups on Amazon. It's still suggesting flesh lights to me.
