Default How do some people get what they want while others don't?

I've noticed that I don't demand anything but for some reason people are willing to go out of their way for me. I don't demand nor expect people to. But 9 out of 10 times I get what I want. I have been known to ask nicely, but I don't expect them to heed my request, they just tend to. I've been told by complete strangers that I seem trustworthy.

Yet other people do the same thing and they don't. Does it have to do with energy? Looks? What?

Okay, then it's pretty easy to get what you want.

First impression goes a long way when dealing with strangers. Also some people want less, so you it's easier from them to get what they want.

Treating people like equals and respecting their feelings and autonomy goes a long way with a lot of people, IME. A lot of people don't do it so when somebody does, it stands out and they are willing to go the extra mile. Not always, but often. I can't imagine that you wouldn't treat people like people, at least until they got stupid on you.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”
