"I am a better driver than you are, I drive more safely than you do, you are all idiot drivers while I am perfect. Well, maybe not perfect, sometimes I'm perfect, sometimes not, but I am always better and safer than you are at driving."

We always see our good points, rarely if ever our bad points. And our "bad points" are somehow always justified by circumstances beyond our control.

A prime example from someone I've known all my life is my big brother.

If you look at his facebook wall, you will see nothing but nature pictures he's taken, people he works with, and a post concerning how he's bought food for strangers without asking for anything in return.

What a saint!

However, some of us know better than to fall for that canard.

Why do we think of ourselves as so perfect?

I am actually a great driver with almost a million kilometers to my name, mostly in regular cars but also many a kilometer in big busses. I am regularly told I am a great driver by customers and other people. I take my driving very seriously and shoulder that responsibly.

Almost daily I see people driving that do not do so safely. I sigh at their sight, but deep down I hope they will not get themselves in an accident. I think there is a great driver in all of us, but there are not many that take driving seriously.

But then, I don't merely think I am great, I know to be great and realize all the aspects that come with that.
