I don't know if I would say it's okay, per se... if it was okay, I don't think it would be a line in the first place. But I think everyone puts a toe across the line from time to time. It depends on the line, I suppose, but in general I think it's perfectly understandable and not a huge problem.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

if the person setting the line highly deserves to have the line crossed, then yes. if you hit your girlfriend for example, you deserve her brother beating the shit out of you :P

I think there is a place for crossing the line or going over the top.

But it should be well prepared for. We should survey the terrain ahead. We should make sure we can recover. And make sure we can respect ourselves in the morning.

Then we commit ourselves fully, without holding anything back, without let or hinderance, we go for it. Whoopee!

Depends on the line and the person, situational to each individual (an ambiguous question).

    Depends on the line.

Some lines are practically made to be crossed.
Some lines make people go "hey now, that side of the line, ok?"
Some lines make people go "that was totally uncalled for and you really shouldn't have crossed that line"
And then there are lines that when you cross it, a pragmatic 'nuke your shit' button is immediately pressed, no talk and no warnings.
