Can never be far enough, but needs to have borders. Tho they can be flexible they have to be there. But if you spent a year of thought about what is going to happen in 40 yrs thats just in vain

It's never too far ahead to think about...it's just sometimes you need to know when certain types of thought are appropriate. Thinking (and feeling) (let's call it cognizing) is all we have.

Personally I tend to max out at three years. I think there is a lot of truth to what Peter Drucker said We overestimate what we can do in a year and underestimate what we can do in five.

One could think about the future far beyond the probable lifespan of our species. There's no limit, but for practical purposes, the farthest ahead you can look without losing sight of all of the necessary steps, and how to achieve them, that are necessary to get there would be ideal, right?
Most practical is not necessarily best, though. You may lose a lot of valuable time getting to where you want to be.
