    Light and Sound

Lucid comes from the word 'light'. And indeed Lucifer means the Angel of Light.

And light must be seen to be perceived - for us to be lucid, we need to see.

On the other hand we all desire to be heard.

But we hide from the light - we hide from the light here under pseudonyms.

And yet we all speak as though our lives depended on it. And of course they do.

Unfortunately print privileges the eye, and to see we demand lucidity.

And unfortunately for someone like myself who is more interested in the sound of words, lucidity makes no sense.

How can you bear to keep looking for the meaning of words when they are singing all around you?

Some words are more suited to the written form than others.

When we say "hello" in an email or a post, it loses none of its sincerity.

Other words, are hopelessly ineffective. Take the absconding partner who texts his partner it's over. Or the boss who sends an sms, you're fired.

The insult is not that the words aren't conveyed honestly, but in chosing a dishonest medium we are really only seeking revenge.

And rather than seek revenge, better - as you say, Victor - to listen to the sound of words.

    Ta, ta

I also have a strong auditory requirement. This is why English is so much fun: there are three or four different ways to say the same thing.

Angel is a mounted courier. The word comes from Old Persian.
Lucifer is a light bringer. From ferre, to bring.
Devil is the slanderer. A diabolos. A slander is a skandalon, a snare.
From dia, through; ballein, to throw.

All the words are Indo-European. But they have entirely different characteristics.
