I'm exactly the same. I seem to have two modes

    1. Lost in thought
    2. Highly observant of everything.

Mode 1 is my default state. I have to actively switch on the second mode, but it's become much easier and more natural to do this as I've aged. I guess I've finally gaining conscious access to my inferior Se function. Also, my job as a forensic scientist depends on being highly observant.

I never pay attention to physical details. If I talked to someone for an hour, I wouldn't be able to tell you what they were wearing afterward, unless it really stuck out to me as something beautiful. I'm in la-la land inside my own head most of the time. However, when it comes to reading people, I'm always extremely aware of body language, facial expressions, and the way they show what people are feeling.

I observe my surroundings often and pay attention. I am almost always aware of the environment around me. However, I don't look around like I'm paranoid... it is more like a photographic memory. I can tell when something is out of place if I have been to that area in the recent past.

It differs from time to time. If I have something important to think about/formulate, then I'm likely to be completely lost inside my head and the chance that I'll walk into a stationary object is high. Otherwise, I'm constantly scanning the area and people around me,

Isn't it kind of weird that you're asking if it's an NP thing? Isn't it the definition of NP? Looking for themes and perceiving?

Ok, but then we have "theory" that NPs are inside their heads most of the time dreaming/speculating, therefore not paying attention to surroundings.

Basically, I'm trying to find out if NPs, or other types, can be easily recognized by their heightened level of observing surroundings, be it physical aspects, meanings, connections, vibes... just if they look around more.

I notice a lot of things but they donít register they just slip into my head to be recalled at weird times to answer random questions with absolute confidence that Iím right but without having a clue how I know this.

My answer: I constantly look around at my surroundings but am totally lost in my mind.

I find that both existing inside my head and being observant aren't mutually exclusive.
Why do we always come here?

    I guess we'll never know.

It's like a kind of torture,
To have to watch this show.
