Hollow intrests/life style

I am pretty sure that this is IN(T) thing in general.

As a person I can drive people to insanity in real life. Which is because I am hollow in every way. (except physically)
My personality is not too well defined and I already did some posts about it.
Another thing is that my intrests are also quite hollow.
Pretty much everything that in the in the spot of my intrests is hollow and it has pretty much nothing to do with people or society.
Through my entire life I don't socialize and I don't search a joy in physical pleasures.

Instead I am mostly alone/detached while I am "diging" for something in the background. For my entire life I am going around searching for hidden meaniings or facts and try to place them in them in the big picture.

My future profession is geology and one of my hobbies is astronomy so have developed very good sense for big picture (in space and time) what means my picture of reality in the root is different from the picture of majority.
What would not be so big deal if all the thing are quite easy to prove.

Because of this have I deal with the things that have happened billions of years ago or with the idea of the world in which mankind does not exist everyday.

For another example: people can look at one lovely field with some rocks on it and enjoy in the beauty and quiet of the landscape and think how it would nice to live here.

But what would typical geologist do ?

I would try to date the age of rocks and draw a simple map. Once you do that some things will become much more clear. Maybe the landscape looks nice but the positions and oldness of rocks suggest that there is a entire fault line system in this landscape that is literally invisible.(but it is there)
What means that it would not be too good to live there.

This is one very simplistic and general example but this is what I do and how I act by default.

Over the years I have gathered enough experiance in video games.
But I was never really interested in the main thing. I was always more interested in searching of hidden areas that will give me some advantage.
Or how to sneak around other players without drawing attention, while ploting something in the process.

In highschool I was known as "the ghost" since my activity/presence usually goes unnoticed, plus I have the ability to appear out of nowhere.
I haven't changed a bit since then.

I lived my entire life literally like this and pretty much all of my positions are based on facts and theories that can't be dirctly seen or they are outside of normal social realm. Plus emotions don't play too big role in all of this.

Opinions?

It seems lonely, but if that's what interests you, then so be it. Geology sounds interesting.
You are pretty hard guy for me to relate to, but interesting none the less. I don't think you are hollow, you have a different perspective. To be honest, I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you asking if you are good or bad?

But what's the problem with this. I don't think the two perspectives are incompatible. An human could both enjoy a landscape, think about how it'd be like to live there, and then start asking himself if that is actually a viable idea, or not, just as you are doing.

I am just interested in opinions and case that someone can relate to this.

Also I know that the word hollow is probably not ideal for this.

You are right but the exanple is very simbolic. I just used a ovresimplified example to show some differences between my thinking and thinking of people around me.

You must have some strange people around you :D most people I am in contact with would think about how suitable is the environment if they love one place and wish they could settle there :D perhaps it's because I live so near the mountains, but hey. Maybe you're in contact with the wrong kind of people :)

The things is that I am actually not in contact with people since I am busy hunting the shadows. But I am not supprised by your answer since this is probably a matter of cultural differences.
But don't take this example too literaly.

I understand that I shouldn't take it too literally, but I also think that - part - of the issue is a matter of cultural difference. Not necessarily among populations, even groups of people with different backgrounds can have different mindsets about trivial events. Most of the friends I had when I was a child thought I was "odd", but all those I have now think I'm perfectly normal.

From what Antisocial One has said about the people with whom he interacts, I've been thinking the same thing.

Also, you're right that "hollow" isn't the best English word for it. I opened the thread assuming you would say other people had hollow interests/life-styles, so this is not quite what you meant. I see that the life you describe doesn't have a strong "personal element," which I guess may be what you're talking about.

The title's not that important, though. Your post itself explains what you wanted to talk about.

You are correct I am talking about too impersonal approach but I also talk about the fact that there is no much "areas" in life in which I am active.

I agree with the different mindset thing completly but I have spend too much time "outside" of many norms to just blend in. Unless I mask myself.

Entire thing works like this: strong introversion makes me uninterested in people, developed N has for the consequences that I live in my head and strong T means that I am emotionally shallow. Plus there is tight J in the end that charts the course.

Basicly what I have is 3 isolation factors and organistion.
Which is probably the most impersonal combination you can have in this system.

So, I am on a mission to balance this a little bit right now.

As a landscape gardener, I would do the same.
I would look at the rocks, and see what they can tell, what they can reveal. But I've been extensively trained in geology too. And this science draws my attention a lot since childhood (one of my Grandpa used to teach Geology in university).

A landscape specialist has to understand every parameters of the land he sees, and make a comprehensive synthesis nonetheless.

Your lack of interest in other people strikes me as the largest obstacle. I was going to suggest trying to connect with like-minded people but if they don't interest you........? Are you interested in other people's ideas/accomplishments etc.? Perhaps you can bond over that (ideas/work) rather than the personal connection, at least to start.

I guess the bottom line is - are you happy being how you are or do you want to change (your behavior)?

Sorry, this probably isn't exactly what you are asking about, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
