    I can speak latin, and I find that compared to other languages, English is drab and crude. It lacks the beauty and complexity of a deeper language. No wonder lovers exchange poetry in french. At least it doesn't sound absolutely nasty. BUt, I like english.

    I do not speak any other language fluently. I'm trying French, but I don't think it's working.

    I think the imprecision in English is a redundancy mechanism. In writing you don't see the emphasis which is so important... which makes you go back to reread to make sure you understood the phrase in the sense it was intended. The meaning slides into place in your brain, reinforcing it.

    Or maybe that's just me...
