hey...

I took the enneagram test recently and it came out being 8w5. So I researched and it seems to not exist.

(I don't know much about the enneagram system so if anyone who is bored enough to kindly inform me about it is more than welcomed)

Enneagram 8s disintegrate into 5s, which means that sometimes when stressed, the 8 can exhibit some 5 defensive traits, like becoming detached and over intellectualizing things. So it's possible you're identifying with a lot of the 5 description because you're "moving" toward that point.

8w5 indeed doesn't exist, but as Jock pointed out maybe you identify with 5 because you're moving in that direction.

There's no way the test actually scored you as having a 5 wing -- if it did it's badly designed. The only 8 wings are 9 and 7. Did it actually score you as having a 5 wing, or did it place 5 second behind 8?

It placed 5 behind 8. Isn't that how it works?

I never really paid much interest into enneagram yet, but the wings are always a number next to your highest scoring number. So enneagram 4 can have wings 3 or 5, 8 can have 7 or 9 etc. Therefore the name "wing" :)

It makes sense that you would be a Type 5 since you're an INTJ. INTJs are most often Fives (followed by Ones). You might want to consider taking a different version of the test - the more questions the better... We can often get close scores for many types. But in reality, we only have one true type. Taking the test is really less relevant than reading various descriptions and discovering for yourself.

Did another test with over 100 questions and this time my top three was 5,1,8 before it was 8,5,1 so what does that mean I'm a 5w1 or I am I doing it wrong again
urrg I hate being wrong.

It has to be next to it, so if your main is 5 your wing must be 4 or 6. You just have to see which one fits better.

Yeah, if you have type 5, then you look whether 6 or 4 has a higher score, and that one with the higher score is your wing.
