When I was a child I had a morbid and moral obsession with the Holocaust, sociopathy and torture, and as I grew older I became evermore affected by what appears/appeared to be the massive suffering inherent to life, both human and animal alike.

It's quite possible your Jewish background had something to do with that. It's quite similar when Irish people reflect upon the Potato Famine, or Blacks upon slavery, or Ukrainians on their famine. It helps establish a more personal connection with the more universal concern for human suffering, as you stated.

I have tested 4 on a number of occasions, however, I have also tested 7 which I know seems poles apart... anyone else tested this way also. I identify with alot of what has been posted, especially the morbid obsession with suffering... It's like a strange dichtomoy as you wish to prevent it and wollow in it all at the same time

I'm a 4 who's oh-so-borderline 9. I usually get 4, but my 9 is intensely strong as well, so...

I wouldn't say I like suffering, but I am fascinated by it...in that, "hey, if I can understand it, I can prevent it" kind of way. I can sort of see the envy thing, too, because there's always that vibe when you see people you admire and think, "Ooh, I wish I looked/acted/thought like that." And I'll admit, it can happen pretty darn often. But I like to think it's just us being in-tune with the goodness in the people around us, to make up for always being reminded of the melancholy of life. They balance each other out, y'know?

I have watched documentaries about it, read books about it and visited the Holocaust museum twice. I don't know why I so interested in it. The whole concept boggles my mind.

Maybe the Holocaust is interesting because it forces us to peel back the skin of this world to reveal the pain and suffering that is woven into the very fabric of existence. To live we try to ignore it because there is no resolution against the horror. Only accommodation and eventually transcendence.

As we go about our little lives, Chaos and pain hides around every corner, tinging the beautiful whole with blood and darkness.

I feel for you, since we only know what we percieve I can see you have yet to find love that has not hurt you nor been with someone who values experience whether it succeeds or fails. I know several 4s and my heart goes out for them. These are the people I will let beat me in a game of wit and they will never know for their happyness and the smile on thier face is all that matters. I will put their thoughts into action for the enjoyment of being with them whether I think they are right or wrong. These are the most confident people, yet when they open up you can see them bleeding. These are the people who just want someone to love them for who they are, to be able to give their heart without fear of having it stepped on.
