I don't think she means the deaths of other people.

You know, I'm noticing a lot of you say you are moved by the sadness of OTHERS or by circumstances and situations outside your own realm of every day living and that you are easily hurt by others.

Do you mean say... by a movie that is very sad or a book? A news story?

I don't really tend to focus on anything that doesn't affect me directly (although occasional news stories can bring me to tears). For the most part, if it isn't real, and based in my own reality, related to my own life, I don't notice it.

I wonder if thats the INT influence...

Hey! I just took the test for the first time, and scored 11 on type 4, higher than the other few types. Nice to see that!
Is it that by its indefiniteness it shadows forth the heartless voids and immensities of the universe, and thus stabs us from behind with the thought of annihilation, when beholding the white depths of the milky way?

My ennegram type seems to change with the weather... really need to do a good test on that, however, I have tested 4 on occasion and definately identify with the pain and suffering thing.. I seem to have a nose for the stuff either that or it's stalking me

There is no good test, but if you're willing to invest the time in understanding the system, the page I posted a link to earlier in this thread is the best one.
I didn't time myself, but I think it took me an hour or two to read the whole page carefully and determine which one best described me.

I like tests that give me the raw output on my score, then I use my understanding of the system to work out my type.

Hey I'm a 4w5! I really identify with a lot of the descriptions of 4's that I've read.

I know several enneagram authors and teachers personally, including Riso and Hudson.
Hudson stresses that in the US especially, he never believes it when someone tells him they're a 4 until he's had time to feel them out a little bit. People 'want' to be 4s in many Western countries - they identify with feelings of 'otherness', depression, and individualism.

I am a 4 and find the faux 4ness annoying.

Awesomeblossom, as do I. I must say, that I also happen to find prententious "high on their horses" people annoying as well!!!

Yesterday evening I watched the show DogTown and just bawled my eyes out, and then I saw an episode of Breaking Bad and engaged in yet another fit of bawling. :/

I don't know what it is, or why it is, that I am so attracted to suffering?!?!?!

It is weird, and I can't help it!!!

When I was a child I had a morbid and moral obsession with the Holocaust, sociopathy and torture, and as I grew older I became evermore affected by what appears/appeared to be the massive suffering inherent to life, both human and animal alike.

    Gah, sadness, so much sadness!!!

Alone, scared, suffering and alone, a state that no living animal should endure, but, alas, many, if not most of us do, at least at some time in our lives.

Love, to feel loved, to feel understood, to care and be cared for.

    To matter to someone!!!
