What is security for the Enneagram six?

Why, where does it originate from?

I'm a Six. I think there's a reason why Six is the most common type: it's the most fundamentally primitive. It has the most primitive needs of emerging self-consciousness: concern about the future and the need to protect against it. These, of course, can be experienced in the most rarified ways or otherwise, depending on the sophistication and temperament of the individual Six; you might be holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London because you've exposed government secrets out of a concern for transparency, or you might be a swastika-tattooed dog, foaming and bearing your teeth at "threatening" immigrants on the streets. Or maybe just concerned with your job and pension.
