LOTS of sp in my family. Lots of 9 as well. We're fairly close as far as nuclear families go. Strong superego. Strong focus on education, compassion, hard work, good finances, and appreciation.

Other than that, I think my maternal grandma is an ISTJ 1w9 and my paternal grandparents are ISFP 4w3 and ESTJ 8w7.

I definitely never got criticized for being cold. I was scolded for feeling rather than thinking, and was always reprimanded if I didn't keep my passions in check. It always felt like if I got too externally passionate about anything my parents would turn and look the other way until I stopped, until we could return to more civil discourse.

I was called "hostile" and "argumentative" then. It was not seen as "passion" and certainly not friendly warmth (which, let's be fair, it is not). The "cold" tag was more like "not extroverted" and "not Fe". This was mostly from my ESFJ grandma, ISFJ mom & ESFP sister. Other types didn't necessarily see me as a cold, but "warm" was not ascribed to be either. I was not a sweet, gentle child, even though well-behaved.

I had similar issues though admittedly I was never well behaved. Being considered rude, arrogant, selfish and an arsehole mostly. Had the family known about MBTI I would have likely received the "not-Fe" label too. My sister received similar negative treatment though she received different pabels. I think my mother is a two because she becomes critical, insulting and aggressive in a way I would imagine an unhealthy eight to be when she is under stress. I do consider my sister to be a four sometimes (she is an ISFP) but I cannot say for sure.

My Dad is 8w7, without a doubt.
My Mom might be a type 9, or a 9w1, she is very much a peacemaker in the family.
I'm a 7w8.
My brother is likely a type 3, he is a perfectionist, but at a very unhealthy level in life...

And I'm likely a 4w5 but not entirely sure.

Too many people...

Everyone in my immediate family aside from my father seems to be a Fi user; no wonder we're not really all that much of a "touchy-feely" hugging, sort of bunch, I think it may be why Fe-doms tend to make me uncomfortable.

It also makes sense now why my ISTJ sister thinks we're all nuts and feels like we don't get her, being that we're all F's except for her.

Poor kid!

That's as far as I have gotten enneatyping. Shit, it's a hell of a lot harder than JCF/MBTI typing.

I think a parental 1 could easily produce a child who's a 3 if they're not careful

Our personalities are wildly different. The most obvious similarity is that we're all pretty limbic rather than calm, but we have completely different methods of dealing with it.

Assuming e-type is influenced by someone's upbringing, I think I could have turned out to be a phobic 6, 4 So or 4 Sp in different circumstances.
Having a rather high-strung and easily hurt mother could be part of why I turned out to be a 9 - I felt the need to keep the peace to prevent her from getting upset. My parents were also fairly permissive and I felt pretty well-understood by my mom, so I didn't develop that much of an overtly rebellious streak or a sense that I was completely different from everyone else.

I need to correct this, as I realized a few weeks ago that my Dad is 3w4, not 8w7 (though he still has it in his tritype). If you are interested in a breif overview of how I arrived at that conclusion, you can find it here. :)

Mama was 2w3.
Daddy was 6w5 (ugh).

Oldest sister, 8w7...probably sp/sx
Middle sister, 7w6...likely sp/sx
Me, 4w3...definitely sp/sx

Odd how we are all sp/sx...don't know why. I do know that there was a lot of effort to "beat" the intensity out of all of us...with limited success.
