I have always felt strongly that type cannot really change, that includes MBTI type as well. I feel that you develop your enneatype in childhood and to some extent might even be born with it. The fact that people are always changing their types has more to do with misundertanding than actually changing. The wing however...It's not really your type, is it? It is more the FLAVOR of your type.
The reason I ask is this: I feel that if I knew about the enneagram five years ago, I definitely would have typed as a 7w8, yet now I feel clearly 7w6. I feel that I used to overcompensate in an 8ish way, while I am now more apt to accept that I have anxiety (though I try my best to push it to the back of my mind in a 7 manner) and occasional insecurities. I am much less domineering than I once was, though I still hate to be wrong and my least favorite thing in the world is probably to have my mind set on something and being told we are doing something else. I hate not having my way as much as when I was five...
Anyway, I don't really feel that I HAD that anxiety when I was younger though. I was too focused on debauchery and self discovery.
Do you think my wing has truly changed, or do you think I have simply discovered my proper wing and I was mistaken in the past?
