    Default Writers that aren't 4s or 5s

I've noticed a tendency of writers to be Enneatype Fours or Fives - Woolf, Shakespeare, Kundera, Mishima, Calvino... It seems that having an idiosyncratic/analytical worldview or expressing deeply felt emotions are qualities that prove useful when it comes to creating top-notch written works. In fact, I don't remember a lot of writers (or non-musical artists, even) that aren't these types, unless you count more "commercial" or "genre" writers (such as Type Six thriller authors). Do you know of any?

A few examples I can come up with:

    George Orwell - 6w5
    F. Scott Fitzgerald - 3w4
    Maurice Sendak - 8w9
    C. S. Lewis - 1w9

Any others? Non-fiction writers and playwrights are also welcome.

Well, I know one INFP 4 who is extremely gifted at creative writing and part of it is manifested in exactly the way you describe.

It probably depends on the kind of writing we're referring to.

I doubt Hemingway or Twain were 4 or 5.

    Hemmingway was 8w7 Sx/So
Mark Twain seemed like some sort of 7, probably 7w8. I have no idea what his instinct variant was though

I would guess Thomas Hobbes is a 6w5 from reading Leviathan.

Everybody seeks security. Liberty is equated with fear. We need an absolute power who has the common good in mind. The absolute power is always right. LOL

That might be true in some cases. I think it's sad for the US that China, for example, has become the world leader in implementing green energy solutions within a matter of 5 years. And all because the "absolute power" can tell all opposition to stfu and get to work.

    But I digress.

I've also seen Alice Walker typed as a 9w8, but I can't vouch for the accuracy of that...

I think JK Rowling is an INFP 9w1 Sp/Sx but that's just a guess
