I have watched all of the interviews of him, that I could find on Youtube.
It's so cute how he always looks at the monitor, to check what he's supposed to do.

He is obviously an F. He cannot be an ST.
Why do you believe him to be an F?

His penetrating insight into what is really going on in society (it was fairly shocking to people back with his first album) and his ability to string so many seemingly unrelated images together metaphorically doesn't strike you as a bit...N? His lyrics aren't just pleasant-sounding rhyming nonsense or egotistical assertions.

His albums are also fairly conceptual.

Insight has nothing to do with a preference for iNtuition as a function. Nor does accurately observing what is "really going on." Nor does rhyming per se--and the kinds of very simplistic rhyme schemes Eminem uses are not characteristic of either Ne or Ni. And your statement that he uses disparate elements metaphorically is the opposite of the truth. If you look at the lyrics below you'll find that it's all about the concrete reality of experience. There are no metaphors, no whimsied flights of fancy, no abstractions.

My Mom Lyrics

Yeah!
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah...
Okay! Alright!
Yo, Yo.
Yo! Yo!
Alright, money comes first.
Here we go now!

My mom loved Valium and lots of drugs.
That's why I am like I am --'cuz I'm like her.
Because my mom loved Valium and lots a' drugs.
That's why I'm on what I'm on --'cuz I'm my mom.

"My mom, my mom" --I know you're probably
tired of hearing the "my mom" oh-oh whoa-oh,
but this is just a story of when I was just a shorty
and how I became hooked on Va-al-iu-um.
Valium was in everything: food that I ate,
the water that I drank, fucking peas in my plate.
She sprinkled just enough of it just to season my steak
so everyday I had at least three stomach aches.
Now tell me what kind of mother would want to see her
son be grow up to be an under-a-fuckin'-chiever?
My teacher didn't think I was gonna' be nothing, either:
"What the fuck you stickin' gum up under the fuckin' seat for?"
"Mrs. Mathers, your son has been huffing ether.
Either that or the motherfucker's been puffin reefer."
But all of this huffin' and puffin' wasn't what it was, either.
It was neither. I was buzzin', but it wasn't what she thought.
Pee in a tea cup? Bitch, you ain't my keeper. I'm sleepin';
What the fuck you keep on fuckin' with me for?
Slut, you need to leave me the fuck alone; I ain't playin'.
Go find you a white crayon and color a fuckin' zebra.

My mom loved Valium and lots of drugs.
That's why I am like I am --'cuz I'm like her.
Because my mom loved Valium and lots a' drugs.
That's why I'm on what I'm on --'cuz I'm my mom.

Wait a minute! This ain't dinner, this is paint thinner!
"You ate it yesterday; I ain't hear no complaints, did I?"
"Now here's a plate full of pain killers.
Now just wait 'til I crush the Valium and put it in your potatoes.
You little motherfucker, don't you sit there and make
that retarded fuckin' face without even tastin' it!"
"You'd better lick the fuckin', plate; you ain't wastin' it.
Put your face in it before I throw you in the basement again!
And I ain't givin' in. You're gonna' just sit there and want to fuckin' play spin again
until next Thanksgiving, and if you still ain't finished it,
I'll use the same shit again, and when I make spinach dip, it'll be placed in the shit!
You little shit, wanna' sit there and play innocent?
A rat fell and hit me in K-Mart, and they witnessed it!
Child support? Your father, he ain't sent the shit!
So what if he did? It's none of your dang business, kid!"

My mom, there's no one else quite like my mom.
I know I should let bygones be bygones,
but she's the reason why I am high on what I'm high on.

'Cuz my mom loved Valium and lots of drugs.
That's why I am like I am --'cuz I'm like her.
Because my mom loved Valium and lots a' drugs.
That's why I'm on what I'm on --'cuz I'm my mom.

My mom loved Valium. Now, what I am is a party animal.
I am what I am, but I'm strong to the finish wit' me Valium spinach.
But my bars only last about two minutes!
But I don't want to swallow it without chewin' it.
I can't even write a rhyme without you in it, my Valium, my Val-i-um. Oh!

Man, I never thought that I could ever be a drug addict.
--"nah, fuck that, I can't have it happen to me!" but that's actually
what has ended up happenin' in a tragedy fuckin' passin' it up back to me.
And it's probably where I got acquainted with the taste, ain't it?
Pharmaceuticals are the bomb, Mom! Beautiful!
She killed the fuckin' dope with the medicine she done fed it.
Feed it a fuckin' aspirin and say that it has a headache.
"Here, wanna' snack? You hungry, you fuckin' brat?
Look at that! It's a Xanax! Take it and take a nap! Eat it!"
But I don't need it!
"Well fuck it, then break it up!
Take a little piece and beat it before you wake Nathan up!"
Alright, Ma, you win! I don't feel like arguin'!
I'll do it --pop and gobble it, start wobblin',
stumble, hobble, tumble, slip, trip, then I fall in bed
with bottle of meds and a Heath Ledger bobble head!

My mom loved Valium and lots of drugs.
That's why I am like I am --'cuz I'm like her.
Because my mom loved Valium and lots a' drugs.
That's why I'm on what I'm on --'cuz I'm my mom.

My mom, I'm just like her!

My mom, my mom, my mom (x3)
My mom, my mama
[in an Eric Cartman voice:] My mama, I ain't takin' this no more.

Heh, sorry mom! I sill love you, though! [kiss sound]

Dr. Dre 2010!

[in a mocking tone:] Man this shit is hella' hard, homie! Man, take us on outta' here...

Oh!

How about The Eminem Show?

This is a poor example of Eminem's lyrics. Eminem's songs - especially the early ones - are filled with constant "flights of fancy" and utterly random weirdness. That's why I became a fan to begin with.

I don't really like it when these threads get bogged down with lyrical discussion, because I feel like the ultimate conclusion tends to be always "so SFP!" just due to the nature of lyrics themselves. Also, I don't know how much lyrical expression is a pure extension of one's personality. With that said, I'll post a few:

Since I'm in a position to talk to these kids and they listen
I ain't no politician but I'll kick it with 'em a minute
Cause see they call me a menace; and if the shoe fits I'll wear it
But if it don't, then y'all'll swallow the truth grin and bear it
Now who's these king of these rude ludicrous lucrative lyrics
Who could inherit the title, put the youth in hysterics
Usin his music to steer it, sharin his views and his merits
But there's a huge interference - they're sayin you shouldn't hear it
Maybe it's hatred I spew, maybe it's food for the spirit
Maybe it's beautiful music I made for you to just cherish
But I'm debated disputed hated and viewed in America
as a motherfuckin drug addict - like you didn't experiment?

....

See I'm a poet to some, a regular modern day Shakespeare
Jesus Christ the King of these Latter Day Saints here
To shatter the picture in which of that as they paint me
as a monger of hate and Satan a scatter-brained atheist
But that ain't the case, see it's a matter of taste
We as a people decide if Shady's as bad as they say he is
Or is he the latter - a gateway to escape?
Media scapegoat, who they can be mad at today
See it's easy as cake, simple as whistlin Dixie
while I'm wavin the pistol at sixty Christians against me
Go to war with the Mormons, take a bath with the Catholics
in holy water - no wonder they try to hold me under longer

Like I said in my earlier post, I do think he's a sensor, but I do think he has elements of N in his songwriting, unlike many other rappers.

I was not feeling Eminem today, so I was not feelings him. I wasn't listening to him all day. But now I am, and I feel so much better.

Eminem could not create, and put out lines like:

"I'll hide for five minutes
Come back, shoot the eyewitness
Fire at the private eye hired to pry in my business
Die, bitches, bastards, brats, pets
This puppy's lucky I didn't blast his ass yet
If I ever gave a fuck, I'd shave my nuts
tuck my dick in between my legs and cluck
You motherfucking chickens ain't brave enough
to say the stuff I say, so just tape it shut
Shit, half the shit I say, I just make it up
To make you mad so kiss my white naked ass
And if it's not a rapper that I make it as
I'ma be a fucking rapist in a Jason mask"

If he was an NF.

That's not one of his very best, but it's one of my favorite. Currently.
Each song has at least one amazing line.

I looked for a hip-hop/rap/Eminem thread, but I didn't find one....
If there was one, I would type and type and type about this stuff, it's wonderful, and amazing, and great.

RagingKunti, I totally misjudged, I'm now thinking he might be a T... maybe an N, but when I think of him as an actual person, he might be ISTP, but he does not at all remind me of an ISTP friend I've had.

I'm still going with ISTP. It's amusing how there seem to be a handful of people who have had nearly every type guessed for them. As a big fan of his, I understand that his lyrics (both their content and rhyme) seem quite N, but I can't imagine any N-type which has been suggested or seems conceivable acting the way he does.

I heard one of his songs a while ago, and I've heard a lot of it before and I agree with you, though I did think ESTP at the time, I haven't seen any evidence for introvert yet though... or extravert :newwink:

Yeah, "flights of fancy" pretty much define Slim Shady LP, along with "Kill You" from Marshall Mathers LP. One could argue a lot of Relapse is in that vein as well, with all the songs about a serial killer taking on hypothetical victims (ugh).

Using a rap like "My Mom" about his own childhood doesn't fully cover all of his work.

You don't know many NFs IRL do you?

There's an INFP in this very thread named "Fecal McAngry" and I've seen him post some classic win about bondage in a totally unrelated political thread.

I can be pretty onery too. One of my favorite words is MF.

I thought his being an introvert was pretty obvious after watching a few interviews. He also went through a recent period in his life where he was essentially a recluse for a few years, although he was apparently addicted to pills during this time, so I don't know how indicative that behavior is of anything.

I'm totally with you on there being N elements to his raps - and I always think it's a bit silly to make overarching statements like "___ could never write something like this!" - but I have to agree that he doesn't strike me as NF overall. What would he even potentially be? INFP? INFJ? He doesn't strike me as either, at all.

This. His body language when he's not "on" also screams introvert. His face can be so impassive, unless he's being emotional.

The Eminem Show is my favorite album of his, Encore is my other favorite. Not that I don't like each of his albums.
The Marshall Mathers LP mirrors The Slim Shady LP, and The Eminem Show mirrors Encore. Just as there's Relapse and Relapse 2.

I like The Eminem Show, because it feels or sounds more "emotionally driven".
The music I would say is the best out of all five albums too. I can listen to an entire over and over again only focusing on the music.

Hm. I know a disproportionate amount of INFPs and they're all too big of empathetic softies at the core to write the raps Eminem has. Also, I'm not sure how truly in touch with his feelings he is - his raps seem to be stuck in a game of "is it really me saying this or is it my alter ego?" and trying to push buttons/make social commentary than an extension of introverted feeling. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree! As I said above, I do think he has strong N elements to his work, and if he is an S, he isn't overwhelmingly so.
