Default Who makes home wine?

I do! I just finished 2 batches of Syrah wine. Well, other Syrah Cabernet. Tasted really promising right out of fermentation, having let it settled down some 2 weeks. Of course I'll let it develop some 3 months or so.

That's some 21 plus 15 liters to drink.. what, about 20 gallons? Where's the conversion meter? Awful job in doing the wine tho. Cleaning the bottles manually, disinfecting, filling, labeling, etc.. I got some 50 bottles, about the same quality as middle priced commercial wines. Terrible job tho. No bang for the buck. It's been a waste of time, commercially

Fun to make tho. Any wine makers in here?

Here's a picture of them lovelies. Ahh aren't them adorable

I know a guy who makes his own wine.
I also know a guy who makes his own beer.
I'd looked into making wine a few years ago, but never actually tried.
Pretty interesting, I'd say.

I did this more 10 years ago when I had little money, living under my parent's roof. Now it isn't profitable for me to do this anymore, but it was a blast of old times coming to me Pretty good stuff, I'd say. I've wanted to try beers, too. I've just heard bad word about them. Wines work out better, I've heard. I'll try some beers next

Awesome Still, no lamb guts involved. Now how you going to make some good wine without rotten intestines?

*Proudly using only non-animal ingredients*

"I would drink this in prison!"

"I would drink this in high school!"

It did make me want to try it, although the smell seems like a deterrent.

Santtu, what kind of container do you use to make your wines? It looks like you made a fairly big batch of it.

that is priceless. Better than the bacon-flavored vodka, IMO.

BTW Santtu I like your pretty tall bottles and nice labels. How'd you make the labels?

I used 2 of these to make the wine, and a third for decantation. They hold some 8 gallons or so, 30 liters, but I didn't fill them to capacity. I added some tartaric acid to the mixture middle process, and it generated a lot of foam! I had to shake the containers too after I had stopped the fermentation, too, to get rid of excess carbon dioxide. So it's good to fill only about 3/4 or so.

They're food-grade plastic, with the cover equipped with an air lock.

Now that gallon is about 3.8 liters, that's about 10 gallons of wine, not 20. Still enough for few weekends

Being lazy, I just bought and attached the labels
