Default Open mic night at the MBTIc karaoke and waffle bar

Since FM's amateur night went over so well, but seems to have run its course, I thought it was about time for a pale imitation contrived to serve an identical purpose.

I'll kick it off with another silly anecdote.

Way back in my (later) college daze, I was into CGI animation a bit. I was playing around with a character animation of a hot dog, with hat and cane, dancing a little Vaudeville number. I was trying to decide between a couple character designs, so I rendered a couple stills, put them on my web server, and emailed my sister links to the images to get her opinion.

She really liked the character and got pretty excited about it. A few days later she was talking to my mom on the phone, and in the middle of the conversation, she suddenly interjected with, "Oh, Mom! You have to see Marty's wiener on the internet!" From what I've been told, there was at least a full ten seconds of silence following.

(And yes, my real name is Marty. My super-secret Martoon identity has been blown.)

And yay for a revival of the funny thread!

Yay indeed! I've been beating that dead horse for a few days to no avail.

Yeah, I saw that, and despite the quality material, it didn't seem to take. People stop looking at a thread after it's been around a while. I thought it might be time to slap a couple coats of paint on the horse, prop it up, and see if anyone noticed.

(Wow, I don't know what I feel worse about; torturing the horse, or the metaphor.)

Wieners and weasels tend to breathe new life in dead horses.

All right, so my mom's been a dog breeder since around the time I was born. At this point, that would be around eighteen years. Her first foray into the dog-breeding world was with shelties, i.e. shetland sheepdogs; they're kind of like miniature lassies.

I was in kindergarten or first grade when this happened. One morning before school, my mom was in the kitchen when she told me to watch over a pregnant sheltie who was in labor. She was taking a phone call, couldn't see into the living room from the kitchen, and wanted me to make sure the mama didn't have a puppy while she wasn't looking. So I watched. The sheltie squatted, and I thought she was just taking a poop, because what came out of her was black and small. My mom called into the room and asked if the dog had had a puppy yet. I called back, "I don't know! It looks like poop but it's moving!"

I think I had reading trouble up until the third or fourth grade, too.

mama! It is all in the mind. Always. The sunshine was always eternal, but the mind does not stay spotless.
