All these picture threads are really fun, but I'm afraid I am not quite as good with associating pictures with personalities. I am intensely curious about what other people might come up with, however.
As much as I enjoy and sympathize with the character Colonel Algrin from The Last Samurai, I have had a number of people talk about Tom Cruise. Given that I don't really follow Tom Cruise as an actor and don't have anything to do with scientology, I think I should really choose a different avatar to epitomize me. As much as I enjoy and respect Patrick Stuart as an actor, somehow I just can't quite epitomize an old bald guy regardless of how much I sympathize with Captain Picard. I thought of Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy (INTJ), but I'm not sure about that one either. Of course, I suppose it could be something entirely abstract, like a Sierpenski Gasket or something, but I want something fun and creative too. Does anyone have any good ideas for an avatar for me? How do you go about picking an avatar anyway? |

![]() ![]() Either of these would be great, but I prefer the first one.

Wow, the one of the left has a hilariously sardonic expression. I very rarely show that much disdain (or at least I think I don't, hmm).
That would make a really good ORLY pic. I like the one on the right (though I'd have to resize it). Hmmm, still, I'm wondering if there isn't something a bit more fun than boring old Mr. Darcy (despite Mr. Darcy apparently having beaten out James Bond and Superman as the number one dinner date in Britain) BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Arts | Mr Darcy voted dream date The real trouble is that I'm not sure that everyone will understand that it is Mr. Darcy rather than Colin Firth. |

Of course, when I go searching on the internet for "Avatar", I inevitably run up against the Nickelodeon television show.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia How about this one: ![]() Sokka kind of looks mean in this pic, though, and I would so be an airbender, it isn't even funny. *sigh* Mendokusei 'nda (translation: "how troublesome") ![]() From the Japanese show: Naruto. Its strange how similar those two characters look. |

My avatar used to be a close-up of the rings of saturn. I have always liked pictures of saturn and I enjoy learnig about stars, planets and such.
I also happen to love waterfalls and hunted around the internet for something I really liked. Nothing personal Jen - just taking this opportunity to rant - I don't know why people think Colin Firth is so "hot". I'm a Pride and Prejudice enthusiast and I've seen his film 3 or 4 times. I have read scores of posts from starry-eyed teens going goo-goo over him. Maybe I'm too old to appreciate him, but I think he seriously needs a haircut and he's not that good-looking. [/rant] He is a better actor than MacFadyen, though. |

Much better. Although the one on the left is much more clever imho
![]() Mom, women like Colin Firth because he often portrays an intelligent and sexy English man.

Unfortunately I am not sure that I like it. Despite Darcy being the epitome of the (anachronistic) INTJ, the avatar does not seem iNtuitive enough. I need something that is fanciful or otherwise Romantic (with a capital R).
There is also the matter of taking myself far too seriously. I could probably uses something that reminds everyone that I have a light and sentimental side despite my rampant (often pedantic) intellectual ramblings. Any ideas? |
