Victory! I love that Philadelphia is a microbrew epicenter. I drink very well in this city.

Great list, aeon. Do you like the Cantillon lambics? They are not as cloying as the Lindemans ones (although their Framboise is one of my very favorite beverages in the world).

I have had them three or four times, and I would say your contrast is accurate. I like them, but that cloying character is part of why I love the Lindemans so. The Kriek in particular is just stellar with a flourless chocolate torte. Hmm, I forgot Kriek on my list.

I should mention though that I don't think their Gueuze Cuvée René has that cloying character - it is a whole other animal.

cheers,
Ian

Default Beer!

We have a thread for wine as well as a thread for Hard A, so we might as well discuss beer, too! :p

My dad says I'm a beer snob, though it is my stepmom's fault. :p If it would have been would have been the main person introducing me to beer, I would probably just dirnk Coors--and wouldn't be making this thread. :p LOL

My stepmom, on the other hand, she is very into microbrews, and I've got friends from school and other places that are very into imports as well as micros. So how can I not be a bit of a snob? :p

I'm a big fan of the darker beers, especially as the colder months are approaching.

Some of favorite micros include -

Black Butte Porter (Deschutes Brewery_
Miror Pond Pale Ale (Deschutes)
Pacifico is tasty when I want something light
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Dog Fish Head IPA
Foggy Goggle (a white ale or something like that, I think)

How about y'all?

I can't distinguish between "good" or "bad" beer at all, so for me, Busch is as good as it gets.

Imports..micros...ale...lager..... it all tastes pretty crappy.

Ya'll wanna come to Oz there's two things you need to know;

1. Coopers Dark and Pale Ales.
2. James Squire Pilsners and Porters.

I'm deeply in love with McEwans and with Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter (his oatmeal stout isn't bad either )

Stone makes Arrogant Bastard Ale and Smoked Porter, which are pretty delicious.

Three Floyds' Robert the Bruce isn't all that bad and I liked the Stout made by a local brewpub where I used to live quite a bit (went well with the bacon cheeseburger ).

If I'm going cheap I'll drink Negra Modelo, which isn't truly cheap anyways. When compromising with my lighter beer drinking friends I'll buy Smithwicks or Newcastle.

For me though, a dark ale is the proper beer

Oh! I forgot about Negra Modelo...tis an OK beer. :p And I <3 Oatmeal Stout. I wanted to try some Chocolate Stout last summer at the brew festival, but they ran out. So if anyone could reocmend something different, I would be very appreaciative!

For taste, Sour Belgian Lambics, like a Kriekbier... maybe a Hoegarden.

For a longer cooler drink, Alexander Keith's IPA.

I also quite like a dash of lime cordial in a lager style beer.
