I think the key is in managing your own expectations.

Assume that everyone on the internet is 14. Some of the time you'll be wrong, but it's less awkward when you're right.

didn't have any 'expectations'.. was a simple observation based comment... besides, guessing ages is tricky.. the more I realize what happened the more displaying listed public ages with avatars looks like a very good addition
