I'm pretty much like that, except I don't wish my siblings had never been born, ever. I do hold a resentment for my sister because she is the classic overacheiver and as a result I have high family standards to live up to, but I'm just not for a veriety of reasons. My brother... hes just a jerk on occasion and is rather lazy to the extent its annoying, ahaha.

Well, I imagine I loved my cat in a simple, empathetic way.

I love my friends in a more complex empathetic way.

I love my mother in a deep, less conditional way.

That's about it, really.

Hard to think about this stuff, I think I've become cold towards my parents, but not because they have done anything...it's just that we are so different! We get along well but there's really nothing to talk about, or adventures to share, etc

I've surely loved girlfriends.

Friends is another hard matter to judge, I don't think I love any of my friends, what does it mean?? But probably I have to consider that in Italian the word love has a romantic meaning attached, whereas in English it doesn't.

I have a book of Peanuts cartoons that declares Happiness Is a Sad Song.

Love and happiness (why hello, there, Rev. Green. I'll be happy to hear you in my head for the next hour or so) are personally defined emotions. Although dozens of feelings flutter around love, my core definition of the state can be summed up in three words: patience, respect, and kindness.

To shorten my definition further, all three words I use revolve around giving the benefit of the doubt to the object of one's affection. You give your best to someone from whom you hope the best.
