Cat People/Dog People

I can't help but notice that it seems like every single INFP woman I have ever known or come across is a cat person and it seems INTP women are cat people as well. Now when I say cat people- I'm not saying that by prefering cats that they are anti-dog, just that they seem to always prefer a cat's companyand to have as pets.

I'm an INFJ woman and I am a huge dog person and prefer dogs over cats, I'm not anti cat- I just prefer the company of dogs and especially to have as a pet.

Why is it that so many INFP and INTP women love cats?
Is there a pattern of another type preferring dogs and if so what are they?

Are there any pro dog people here?
How many pro cat people are there here?

Now remember I am talking about preferances. I like both cats and dogs but there is one that suits me more as a pet owner and one that I just connect more with as well.

I feel the same way. You get to go and get licked for a couple of hours and wrestle around with another person's dog, and then you can leave when you're tired of all of the attention.

I'd much rather come home to my cat, who yes, peed all over my shoes, but who can also take care of himself for the most part.

At their extremes of "most neurotic behavior" --
- Dogs are codependent.
- Cats are schizoid (or occasionally anti-social).

I don't have the time, energy, or emotion to support an animal. While I like the "idea" of dogs, I'd feel guilty owning one because I wouldn't do enough to make it happy. A dog could do much better than me.

Cats are autonomous and less intrusive, overall.

So it does not bother you to spend the time and energy needed to care for a dog? (btw, the female INFP sitting in the cube next to me right this moment has two dogs. She loves them to death. They are like her children. Sometimes I wish she would stop talking about them! She's even got pictures!
