Hi,

Trying out a new thread, perhaps it's too general but here we go.
List out your favorite youtube channels. Please leave some kind of commentary so we can understand how you see those channels (whether it's news, entertainment and anything else you see as relevant)

Feel free to comment on other people's favorite channels - just stay courteous : )

I'll start with my most watched YOUTUBE news and related channels.

On the left:
Sargon of Akkad for example does a good job deconstructing media narratives.

Philosophy and politics
Stefan Molyneux despite seeming to model himself on ancient philosophers (and the cult following they used to have) has some good points as well.

on the right + comedy
Steven Crowder

I think I'd really better refrain from commenting on that. Uh. List.

I watch stuff semi-regularly. The only things I watched regularly on Youtube include:

Comedy:
  • Would I Lie To You (All seasons)
  • Big Fat Quiz of the Year
  • Father Ted
  • The IT Crowd
  • Black Books
  • Monty Python ...Etc
...I'd once marathoned the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, but that was many years ago.

For actual academic shit, TED talks are generally very good, and any popular university lectures tend to be decent.

Gaming/Lifestyle -
I only watch Life Of Boris and SovietWomble. Sovietwomble's clan is hilarious and it's like watching the Hindenberg, but funny. Boris is a good lifestyle channel focused on entertaining rather than actually delivering insights about gaming.

For political stuff:
Stephen Colbert actually makes some sense given the trainwreck that is American politics.

ok. why? This is just a list of some of my most viewed youtube channels, I have plenty others but I'm not going to post 100 channels.
Now if you have different preferences feel free to share and I'd be happy to check them out.

If you feel like giving me baseless ad hominem arguments I'll be happy to utterly destroy you in a debate.

Which one is it going to be ?

Pass.

Feel free to "destroy" me though ;)

Not how it works, you're supposed to give arguments. You haven't. You just did the equivalent of saying "I can't eveeenn".

Now of course I would prefer you share some of your favorite channels.

I just randomly look shit up. I follow a few channels but it's pointless cuz I don't really pay attention.

That would be a good use of my time though...

Some random channels I like:

Styxhexenhammer666: A multichannel on politics, occultism, military rations, minecraft, botany, and cat videos. He's incredibly intelligent and has a rather dry sense of humor that I find appealing.

Some Black Guy: A level-headed guy that rants and reports on a bunch of bs.

Vegan Gains: He's pretty crazy, especially in his older videos, but provides great information on veganism, health, and fitness.

Unnatural Vegan: I like her rational, scientific approach to veganism.

Nibbles Official: An alternative chick that I find interesting.

It's Black Friday: Another alternative chick that I find interesting.

Free Audio Books for Intellectual Exercise: Includes hours upon hours of philosophical audiobooks on many topics.

Ali Kamenova Interval Yoga: Has a lot of great yoga and nutrition videos and seems to be an all-around amazing person.

In general, I mainly watch videos revolved around political commentary, veganism, the occult, astrology, yoga, and typology. I know, I'm a weirdo.

I use him as a background theme when I'm working on something not too brain intensive

Here’s my favorite list of Youtube channels:

Blonde in the Belly of the Beast
Blaire White
Rebel Media
Millennial Woes
The Reality Calls Show
Libertarian Realist
PragerU
BlitheringGenius
Crusader Girl
Styxhexenhammer666
Stefan Molyneux

I think I have recently developed some kind of obsession with channels having to do with The Alt-Right. Generally speaking though, I think I like anything that is "alternative" and it doesn't matter whether it is left or right wing oriented. However, I do think that that which is geared towards the "Right" is more accurate and truthful based on the following:

One problem with the Left (whether it be alternative or not) is that some of the people actually believe they can create a society and/or civilization that is like a utopia. Is a utopia just a temporary state? It just seems that in the process of imagining or envisioning a utopia, at some point, degradation and degeneracy is an inevitable reality. Furthermore, I would argue that there is no such thing as a Utopia but that would be a long one so I will leave it at that.

PBS Idea Channel - interesting and intellectual explorations of cultural ideas, specifically internet culture
Tested - an entertaining way to keep tabs on general tech concerns with their podcasts, plus occasional cool build videos. This is headed up by Adam Savage of former Mythbusters fame.
The Art of Photography - I, for some reason, like to learn about photography and keep tabs on latest developments (haha), even though I don't shoot very often. This channel is well produced and the vblogger is pleasant company.
Computerphile - Super cool and nerdy videos breaking down computer science concepts, and history produced by the University of Nottingham.
Today I Found Out - A way to learn just a little to much about random and interesting facts.
Lazy Game Reviews - I watch this for retro software and hard reviews, oddware reviews, and computer history videos and first person thrift store shopping, the dude is so enthusiastic about his interests.
Chez Lindsay - entertaining and well thought out cultural media critiques and criticisms from a particularly feminist and liberal pov.
theneedledrop - music reviews, guy likes vinyl
Mark Kermode - movie reviewer from the BBC, with an entertaining "snippy old-married couple" dynamic with his cohost and while I don't agree with his tastes 100% I find his points of view helpful. He liked Twilight.

Akos Dreamy- a Greek (?) musician who covers british folk artists with a dreamy, low production, and lispy almost (unintentionally) comical style. I'm one of his 16 subscribers.
