    1. Get SCUBA diving licenses; go to either Australia or the Galapagos Islands and do a week-long tour of diving in the ocean while living on a boat. You can also surf the days around this. If you do the Galapagos Islands tour, you can also hike the Andes and explore the tropics.

    2. Go to Africa; go on safari. Pet penguins. Ride the amusement parks, go surfing at world class surfing spots... there's lots to do.

    3. Spend the money you would on airfare to go to Banff/Jasper/Canmore and buy yourself some skis or snowboards. Take the time to learn.

    4. Go to Asia; it's probably cheaper for you to fly there because of it being Vancouver and all.

Those are... awesome ideas. I probably wouldn't do the skiing thing - Non and I already ski, so taking 4 weeks in a row to do it wouldn't be quite novel enough

That also reminded me of thinking about doing Mount Kilimanjaro or similar.

Anyway, excellent ideas... added to the planning spreadsheet to price!

    Sweet

Let me know how pricing goes for you (seriously)--I've done the Africa one but hope to do all the others at some point!

Mt Kilimanjaro has an easy route that if you go slowly you don't even have to have trained to do it, or so my cousin who did it says. If you do Africa, specifically South Africa, I have tons of places you could check into.

Africa doesn't have any quality amusement parks that I'm aware of.

    How about Detroit?
