p.s. The scene where Hannibal stabs Will was ridiculous (you could see the hurt on Hannibal's face).

Oh yeah, Hannibal may be the Devil, but he's still human. He's shown some flashes of emotion before, but that was intense.

Mischa was Hannibal's young sister when he was like 9ish. Their family was killed by a Stuka, German Air Bomber plane, while they were hiding out in the Baltic region during WWII. Mischa and Hannibal alone survived (he's not fucked up at this point, and loves his sister like a father). They return to the partly destroyed cottage, and eventually Lithuanian Militiamen, let by some Nazi, capture the cottage, and when they run out of food, they cannibalize Mischa. Hannibal witnesses it. And even finds out later, they fed him parts of her in a broth.

So that's basically why he's Satan.

And Annabel was his replacement for Mischa. In the books, he tries to drug/hypnotize Clarice Starling into thinking she is Mischa, or something.

A burnt bridge. Hannibal kept Abigail alive because Will cared for her. Killing her was the final rebuke of Will's betrayal. He killed her because it would hurt Will.

This^. Also, in an effort prove that Will hadn't truly changed Hannibal. It worked both ways, as Will's stag exhaled its last breath, purging Will of Hannibal's corrupting influence. I'm interested to see where the series goes from this point. It will probably be more Hannibal focused. Also, I have a hunch that Jack won't die, but Bloom will.

So freaking wicked. I was cussing her out, until she pulled out more bullets.

Yeah the slow ass police force irritated me too. Bloom's call should have solicited them by the time Will arrived IMO. I mean, the traffic shouldn't have been that obstructive.

Watching the Hannibal finale.
What I typed while watching....

The opening was tremendous, where both Jack and Hannibal are vying for Will's loyalty and support for the "showdown." The visual merging of the two horizontal panels (first for hannibal/Jack, and then for the two possible "parts" of Will) was ominous; in reality, do we know Will at this point? Has Hannibal subsumed enough of him or is he still truly one of the good guys?

and then all the slow moments of closure. First with Jack's wife. Then with Will in his office, talking about the mind palace. And then ... when Hannibal sniffs... I started saying, "Oh shit," out loud under my breath. Over. And over, to the bitter end. The game just changed, and all because they just did not anticipate Hannibal's sensitivities.

The music and sounds (orchestra mutterings, low random drum rumblings) do a lot to build tension over the slow build of the final endgame. We all know what will happen. We've been waiting to get there all season. And the episode doesn't rush; the pace remains slow, tantalizingly slow, almost like the purposefully measured caress when you're screaming for your lover to move faster and going out of your mind with impatience. Every pause between sentences seems to stretch longer and agonizingly longer.

"To the truth, then.. and to its consequences."

Kade Prurnell, please go die. Why do you vex us so?

Jack, oh Jack. Hannibal is good. Jack is excellent. But one slip can be quite the game-changer.

Hannibal is so direct with Alana. The one time he has been honest with her. But you had to know he knew there was no danger for him. Poor Alana. She's always one step behind, even when she's catching up. You know, I would have just shot him when he answered, "in the pantry." But that's just me, and ... well, look at that... no buwwets.

And then we come to the final surprise:
Abigail??? WTF?

....Oh bloody hell. So much bloody hell.

A final FINAL surprise, then:
BEDELIA???? WTF???

Anyway, more almost-intersection with the books but toying with our expectations, much as the scene with the flaming wheelchair did (which was cribbed from Red Dragon but didn't fulfill the expectation). Here, we get a scene very similar to the linoleum knife incident mentioned anecdotally in Red Dragon... but again, different outcome.

Bastards.

About the police + whatever else:

WTF is up with that? They knew what Will and Jack were doing, to the degree of shutting Jack down. Then Alana tells them Jack won't stop. So they go to arrest jack and Will. But why didn't they go to Hannibals also, right away, to see if Jack and Will would show up? They were able to go to Will's, and still both Alana and Will got to Hannibal's, got messed up, and Hannibal leaves... and no FBI or police. That seems a little sketchy to me.

About Abigail: Yeah, I agree with everyone's spoilers. That was pretty much it, IMO. They even set it up earlier in the episode, by Will asking Freddie to not write about Abigail; they were reinforcing she meant something to Will, just so she could be used to hurt Will later. Fucking Hannibal. But Will is free now, free of the stag.

I was really hoping Alana would gun him down with whatever breaths she has left, but nope.

No idea where this is going next season. Still crushed over Bedelia. Unbelievable.

Great Season Finale. Really. Love it.
But having trouble falling asleep now. Mind is racing too much.

I think when that journalist gets killed one day for real the flaming wheelchair would be used again as poetic justice.

I think the next season would have hannibal being hunted down by the crazy bilionaire. It makes sense that way. The actor who plays the billionaire can't disappear for one season and come back again.

So if i am correct we would have the events taking place in the hannibal movie in the season 3 and silence of the lambs in season 4; which basically means the sequence of the movies would be changed.

And how did he manage to convince (or was it intimidate) skully's character into coming with him? Amazing. Lovely couple though.

I am a bit sad he chose to kill abigail who brought the human side of him. Now there is nothing but ironically we still like him.

She knows who Hannibal is. Perhaps more than most. I think they may be lovers. Is she going to be ok? I don't think you can ever be sure you're ok if you're hanging out with Hannibal. But she made it this far. I don't know if he knew that she told Will "I believe you." Or it was part of the game. Man, this threw me for a loop.
