    I have to say: This has been the best Oscar telecast in years.

    Ellen was a really good host. She was funny without going for over-the-top shocks.
    Make her a consistent host ala Billy Crystal.

    And the tablet self-groupie was an instant classic.

    I've dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas;
    they've gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind.

    Apparently, the pizza man got a $2 tip for a $1500+ order according to an electronic receipt posted online. He should've made sure that the next Oscar telecast's "In Memoriam" lasted longer than the show. Poor guy.

    In other news, the Razzies have taken time out to recognize such easy targets as Movie 43, After Earth, and The Lone Ranger.

    And Will Smith turned down the offer to reprise his role in Independence Day 2. I guess he prefers Planet Ith over Planet Earf.

    Movie 43 is getting the short end of the stick here, it's a convenient target that isn't deserving of the crap being dumped on it.

    It's biggest fault is that pretty much all the humor in it is crass, but once you accept that, I found a number of the clips really funny. (My favorite is probably "Homeschooled" with ends up showcasing some of the crappiest experiences that any of us have had in high school.) Maybe it aims at the lowest common denominator at times, but I'm kind of surprised at what a convenient target it is compared to some of the truly horrible movies that have come out this year. It's also a compilation sketch film, which means the connection story isn't aimed at much more than to hold the pieces together.

    “Pleasure to me is wonder—the unexplored, the unexpected, the thing that is hidden and the changeless thing that lurks behind superficial mutability. To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.” ~ H.P. Lovecraft

    Yeah, I never even bothered to watch it. It was a non-blip on the radar.

    But I suppose that makes it too boring for a Razzie. Movie 43 had the benefit of having some pretty outrageous scenes and at least a few potentially offensive moments (depending on one's personal sensibilities).

    Maybe we should consider the Razzies as redemptive. At least its nominees are considered memorably bad movies. There's nothing worse than being a bad movie that isn't even memorable; indifference in media is worse than hate.
