^ I was glad that the orgy wasn't too visible. Dear HBO, we know how to access porn. Just give us a gist of it and we'd do the rest.

It seems that the female cop was molested as a child.

The dude who was caught for the said rape seemed confused; which makes me wonder whether it was indeed him who did it. He didn't have red hair and it was mentioned that the wife's original hair colour is brown. So from where did the kid get red hair. But they did said they caught him on DNA.

Could the female cop's father be involved in all of this.

Was it Teague Dixon who tortured that woman while being tied to a chair and who and why was she tortured. I kinda lost myself there or can't remember.

The diamonds led to an old case. So I wonder whether Carper's murder is related to that.

Yeah, it could be contributing to Ani's alone-ness in the world (she has trouble with intimacy / LTRs, due to trust issues) and her continual aggression. I thought that three-minute scene in episode 5 where she got sent to Sexism Sensitivity Class was just surreal...

You can't assume that just because they confirmed that the guy's DNA matched the rape kit that it was his sperm that fathered the boy. They confirmed he raped her, they did not yet confirm his paternity.

Red hair is a variation of recessive traits:

So you could not express red and still be a carrier of the genes. It's not clear whether Ray is the dad, the rapist is the dad, or potentially even a third party.

sure, why the hell not? everyone else is dirty. Although he seems rather straightforward so far. It's just he had a connection to Rick Springfield, didn't he? You just never know with this show.

I don't think that's been clarified yet, although maybe ceecee remembers better than I can....

Yup, they were stolen around the time of the LA riots in 1992, so it's not clear yet whether they are connected to Caspere's murder. Also, the mayor's kids looked like those kids in the picture that the old cop reviewed....

I don't recall a scene with anyone getting the shit beat out of them in that cabin so far. Of course that thought triggered the LA Confidential comparison (cabin in the woods - Victory Motel) but I'm glad I'm not alone.

Oh yeah, saw this discourse on reddit:

Um, she used her sister's name. Bye Athena.

    >>I knew something bad was going to happen to her as soon as she said she got into Cal Arts.

    >>>>Said every parent of a Cal Arts student ever.

    >> It could be worse. She could have crippling student loan debt and an art degree...
    ... and so it goes.

But yeah. The jokes had started before this week's episode (since Athena was all excited about getting into art school), and now she's likely in peril.

Amen to that. I also agree that there seems to be a lot of moving pieces that I don't see how they will tie together in just 2 more episodes. OTOH, those last couple episodes will have to move pretty quick, so it should be an entertaining ride.

One question - lady cop seemed to get much more messed up by that spray drug than many of the girls (there were still lots of girls in the background drinking/laughing working the crowd who didn't seem to be on the brink of unconsciousness). Only the Mexican girl seemed as messed up as she was. Did I miss something there? I want to speculate that maybe the party hosts drug certain girls who are in line for the snuff porn (or whatever other nefarious business is going on) to a higher degree so they are easy to handle later. But I might be reading too much into this, maybe they just needed a "dizzy/hallucinating" plot vehicle to introduce her molestation flashbacks.

I interpreted that as her having a panic/anxiety attack due to her PTSD flashbacks in addition to the disorienting effect of the drug.

Frank is completely unnecessary character, he should've been a subplot at most. Now he get's equal time as the three principal characters with a story that doesn't go anywhere. Vaughn really can't deliver that shitty dialogue plus his character is all over the place - trying to be deep and multidimensional but ending up just shallow and stupid.

There's no sense with the plot, too. Shame cause I like the three main characters, especially Ani. McAdams is really good.

I only really remembered McAdams via "Mean Girls." I've been impressed with her work here. She just seems very natural.

Episode 7 -- Aw damn. Sigh.

But it was a decent episode. Now that all the threads are coming together, the season feels like it has momentum. it is also the last hurrah, so to speak: Everyone is fucked, and all that remains to be seen is whether any of them can dig their way out with a Hail Mary and somehow come out alive, let alone ahead.

Can I say again how great I think McAdams and Farrell are in this series? They have some scenes here where even without much dialogue they convey a wealth of information and emotion.

You want me to roll a joint?

And how did I not see that line coming?

Second the Awww..damn. Everything is making sense now. I love Rachel McAdams in this. I liked her before but I think she is wonderful in this. And I think she and Colin Farrell do have chemistry, regardless of what I keep reading. Vince Vaughan - the more fucked up Frank is the better, imo.
