Well, since the nominees are out, I must say there are a few surprises, such as:
Pacific Rim getting snubbed for Best Visual Effects in favor of...Iron Man 3?
The Lone Ranger getting two Oscar nominations (Best Makeup and Best Visual Effects) which are well-deserved, but also an unexpected pleasant surprise.
Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa getting nominated in any category, in this case Best Makeup.
Star Trek Into Darkness getting nominated in any category and even being considered a movie.
