Sondheim is really interesting. Typically it's a "first time, whaaa....?" [definitely not that mass-marketed "Frozen" sound, which hits fast and is very accessible but also burns out fast], while then on second and later listens you realize there's a lot going on not just lyrically in terms of content and syllabic interplay but also in terms of motif and how musical themes are repeated and altered throughout the show to express changes in or differences between characters.

“Pleasure to me is wonder—the unexplored, the unexpected, the thing that is hidden and the changeless thing that lurks behind superficial mutability. To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.” ~ H.P. Lovecraft
Flowing through all, there is balance
There is no peace without a passion to create
There is no passion without peace to guide
Knowledge stagnates without the strength to act
Power blinds without the serenity to see
There is freedom in life
There is purpose in death
The Force is all things and I am the Force
