Give me your:

Broadly speaking, trash. Not just trash, but I read a lot of paranormal romance. I also love urban fantasy and epic fantasy. I will honestly read just about any kind of novel if it's not the mostly horrid stuff they make you read in school. Now that my kids are having to read some of that stuff it makes me wonder if they are purposely trying to make kids hate reading. :dont:
- Title of the book you're currently reading
The Mane Squeeze by Shelly Laurenston. Yes, it's as awful as it sounds. It can't really be classified as anything other than mommy porn. I won't say more because it really is pretty awful. Not the worst, but still . . .
House Rules by Chloe Niel. It's urban fantasy with vampires, werewolves, elves, and magic-people. Not the best series ever, but entertaining.
Blood Trade by Faith Hunter. Urban fantasy.
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor. YA urban fantasy. This one will probably take me awhile because there is a lot of sweet mommy porn coming out this month and last.
- Literature/Lecture, which do you prefer? Lit, pls. Wait, I think. What does that mean?
- Title of your favorite book. It's more than one book, but LOTR
- Book(s) you would like to read. The next Outlander book, the next Dresden Files book, the next Game of Thrones book, the next Kate Daniels book for starters.

I consume a lot of novels, partially because I listen to a lot of them and would have bluetooth headphones surgically implanted if I could.

I treat reading like a lot of Americans treat watching TV. It's entertainment. It's an escape. I like PNR/UR because it's fantasy, but usually shorter and less dense than epic fantasy and it's fun to think about the reality I know not really being the reality that is. Also, a lot of epic fantasy is very male-centered. PNR/UF has many issues including all kinds of screwed up relationship and sexual attitudes, etc but more often than not, women are real people instead of the prize at the end of the fight.

So can fiction be lecture and non-fiction be lit?

Well, fiction are mostly books, so it would be strange if fiction would be lecture. Non-fiction can either be lecture or literature. Books like papillon are literature, but a magazine is lecture.

On Wikipedia:

Literature (from Latin litterae (plural); letter) is the art of written work and can, in some circumstances, refer exclusively to published sources. The word literature literally means "things made from letters" and the pars pro toto term "letters" is sometimes used to signify "literature," as in the figures of speech "arts and letters" and "man of letters."Literature is commonly classified as having two major forms—fiction and non-fiction—and two major techniques—poetry and prose.

Literature may consist of texts based on factual information (journalistic or non-fiction), as well as on original imagination, such as polemical works as well as autobiography, and reflective essays as well as belles-lettres. Literature can be classified according to historical periods, genres, and political influences. The concept of genre, which earlier was limited, has broadened over the centuries. A genre consists of artistic works which fall within a certain central theme, and examples of genre include romance, mystery, crime, fantasy, erotica, and adventure, among others. Important historical periods in English literature include Old English, Middle English, the Renaissance, the 17th Century Shakespearean and Elizabethan times, the 18th Century Restoration, 19th Century Victorian, and 20th Century Modernism. Important intellectual movements that have influenced the study of literature include feminism, post-colonialism, psychoanalysis, post-structuralism, post-modernism, romanticism, and Marxism.

Well books as in magazines?
(I could be wrong? - my english = bad)
Okay. I only have a two-year degree so I thought maybe there was some scholarly terminology I wasn't familiar with. Maybe periodical would be closer? I don't know. I know we have folks with English degrees around here. Maybe they will know.

Quiet by Susan Cain.

- Literature/Lecture, which do you prefer?

Lecture.

- Title of your favorite book.

I have none actually.

Too many to list here. I'm rather lazy on this front.

What do you mean, I can't select both fantasy and science fiction? And science-fantasy? And all other sort of otherworldly combinations?
Moreover, I've been hesitating to check "teen fiction" instead. I've been severely disappointed by so-called adult fiction more than I can count.
