The Avengers should win for Best Visual Effects, but Life of Pi will take it because it's got major nominations.

I don't think Argo will take Best Picture because it didn't get nominated for Best Director.

And why did Thomas Newman get nominated for his score in Skyfall? The score for that film was every bit as generic as anything by Hans Zimmer.

I really want Lincoln to get shat on. Fuck that film, seriously. Pretentious, boring twaddle. I'd rather see Les Mis win best picture, because then at least we'll all know the whole thing's a joke.

I'm kind of in agreement.

Marketing and movie promotion, release time, topical matter, and the like all has more bearing on the outcome than the movie itself, it seems.

And any votes I'd make here would simply reflect what I thought would win, not necessarily which I thought was better.

It's amazing how much opinion can differ among reasonable people. Lincoln wasn't my favorite film of the year, but I was riveted and I would find it an entirely deserving Best Picture winner.

The filmmakers of Beasts of the Southern Wild looked about as poor as the film's characters. They didn't look like they could afford an HD camera or even a tripod.

And it is very ironic that the actors in The Avengers didn't present the award for Best Visual Effects to the film they starred in.

And Seth MacFarlane is the funniest Oscar host ever. I laughed at least twice.

The Gatekeepers? Why wasn't The Keymasters nominated?

And the title How to Survive a Plague sounds like a zombie movie spoof.

Ha.

This is one of the worst Oscar shows of all time. It is painfully boring with no rhythm.
Drop the goddamn goofy music montages and dance numbers and just announce the winners already.

And fuck Seth McFarlane.

Christ.

I loved how at the beginning he managed to legitimately offend some of the audience.

This Tim Burton Samsung Galaxy commercial is a highlight worth mentioning.
