Bonus question: What was the first album &/or CD you purchased?

The first album I bought was "Purple Rain" by Prince

The first CD ... can't recall for sure ... something Genesis comes to mind.

First VHS movie: going to be a Disney movie ... had a collection of them in the 80's and 90's for the kids to enjoy!

First DVD: "The Matrix". Bought it before I even had a DVD player.

As for VHS, I have no clue; my parents bought me those. But I remember the first movie I bought on LaserDisc. It was Total Recall.

I think the first CD I bought was a Windham Hill classical album. Maybe Dvorak or Mozart. I think I bought two.

No idea about movies either. My brother's girlfriend got me Madonna's "Justify My Love" when I was a kid. Maybe that was the first. She knew I wanted to see boobies. It wasn't worth it. My first album was Licensed to Ill.

VHS: Star Wars (I bought the trilogy). These are the pre-special edition ones, where Han shoots first! I stayed up super-late that night, watching them back-to-back-to-back. Wish I could get DVD/Blu-Rays of these versions now.

CD: It would be a cassette tape, and not a CD, but I can't remember. Music isn't really that important to me, so it doesn't tend to make lasting memories.

DVD: Goldeneye. It was back in the early/mid 90's and I'd just bought this super-powered computer with a DVD drive, and just had to get something to play in it.

I've never bought many movies, VHS or otherwise (I don't tend to watch them more than once) and have no idea which one I bought first. I remember the first record I bought very clearly (My Love's In Jeopardy) but I can't remember the first CD, which is weird because I was probably a teen by then and it was probably a big deal to me at the time.

I can remember the first CD, it was babylon zoo, I'm not proud of that purchase but everyone was into the one hit wonder space man and by then I wasnt discriminating enough to trust that one hit wonders would generally be just that, one hit wonders.

As to the first movie, no idea, I really feel as though I really ought to know that but I dont.

I do! I haven't watched them in a long time (the tape quality isn't that great anymore, and... well... VCR), but I do still have them.

I honestly don't remember the movie. That was sooooo long ago. Probably Star Wars was among the first. Not sure about DVD either.

The first album I remember buying was on a cassette -- Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits, 20 songs. I was in fifth grade and rode my bike the whole way into town (probably 5 miles) to buy it, and i think it cost me $5.

My first cassette tape was a halloween soundtrack. I loved it so much, I'd just play it in my room for hours.

I wish I could remember my first CD purchase.. but I have no idea.

I DO remember my first movie I bought with my own hard-earned allowance money was Jurassic Park. We watched it a hundred hundred times. (Technically my mom just said if I do this or that for a week we'd go get it and I did, but I count it.)

I really cannot remember my first DVD either. My first internet-music purchase? Blink 182 All Time Greatest album.
