Default Which director should direct a Jimmy Bond movie?

Imagine Danny Elfman's rendition of Monty Norman's Bond theme. And not to mention a title sequence with a massive amount of spinning spirals. Dammit, Tim Burton would also love the gun barrel sequence. He would love it so much that he'd put it at the beginning of the film. It's like a spiral. Spiral. Spiral. Spiral.
Based on this gem of a post, inspiration sparked.

Which filmmaker (besides yourself) would you choose to direct a James Bond movie? Based on that director's style, how do you imagine it would influence the Bond formula? Explain.

He campaigned for Casino Royale, put it on the tracks and ultimately lost it: Quentin Tarantino. As far as I'm concerned, the man was BORN to direct a Bond movie. Similar to the classic works of Leone, Woo and Scorsese, Bond has certainly influenced Tarantino's filmography.

His version of Bond would feature extended sequences filled with witty dialogue followed briskly with vivid and brutal violence. I'd also expect an R-rated, potty mouth Samuel L. Jackson as sidekick Felix Leiter. Can you imagine? I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

I would also expect him to drop the "superspy" aspect of the movies and be closer in spirit to Fleming's novels. More "From Russia With Love" and less "Die Another Day". It would also probably take place during the early days of the Cold War.

Obligatorily, I'd also like to recommend Christopher Nolan. However, I suspect he'd piss the entire movie away by "deconstructing" the character and shamelessly paying homage to the skiing sequences in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. No thanks.

Micheal Mann. Like his style and I think he would do a good job with Bond. Something like the action of Collateral with the style of Miami Vice.

Just got back from Oblivion and it definitely surprised me. The visuals were stunning, the M83 score actually surpassed Daft Punk's Tron: Legacy and it is the first Tom Cruise movie in well over a decade where I didn't want to bludgeon him to death the minute he appeared on screen.

I wouldn't want Kosinski to touch Bond, however. He is the quintessential "music video director" but he wouldn't cut the mustard for a Bond feature.

I'd like for David Lynch to direct a James Bond film, in which he dies and goes to hell and is surrounded by the phantoms of women he seduced and people he murdered.

And just kind of go from there.

That's the only way you'd get me to watch a James Bond film. They're fucking trash.

I'd like to see Steven Soderbergh take a crack at a Bond movie. We've been in a period of dark Bond movies lately, and I'd love to see some of the joie de vivre he brought to the Ocean's Eleven movies. He could make a really fun Bond movie without making it campy.
