This album doesn't officially release for another week and a half (but it leaked and I have it), also it's early in the year, but I can already say it is metal album of the YEAR. So fucking good.

I've been re-visiting some of the Christian metal that I haven't listened to in several years. Here are a few examples from two of the ones I've been listening to first: Sympathy (Suffocation-influenced brutal technical death metal with classical/symphonic parts) and Crimson Moonlight (black/death in the vein of mid-era Emperor and Dimmu Borgir).

Entire categories of music aren't "good" or "bad", but there are technically skillful and intensely expressive examples of pieces in every genre. I'd be curious to see more examples of the best in this genre.

We are trained to like or dislike entire genres, which has always seemed problematic to me.

Dark Tranquillity is releasing a new album entitled "Construct" in May. Can't wait.

Here's another song from the new Omnium Gatherum album. These guys have really mastered a beautiful sound when it comes to Melo Death. With Omnium Gatherum and Insomnium, The Finns are doing it right!
