Wow, looks like everyone is really into Tori Amos. I've only ever heard Silent All These Years.

*edit* If anyone's interested, here are some songs by Regina Spektor and Ingrid Michaelson. I highly recommend checking a few of them out.

Regina Spektor - Human of the Year

Beth Ditto!

Absolutely! In my opinion her and Sia have the best female voices out there today.

The one and only Tori Amos! Her and I have a bit of a history, have been listening to this woman for almost 20 years. :)

*makes a note to look up Sia*

I really like her too. Do you listen to Fever Ray? Same person.

(This song reminds me a little of Bjork, whose work I also dabble in from time to time)

omg of course! How could I forget? Her voice is amazing.

One other person I forgot: Santigold.

The best ones I can recall offhand are:

Christina Aguilera
Whitney Houston
Tori Amos
Madonna
Alanis Morisette
Diana Ross
Jordan Sparks
Gwen Stefani

I like Amy Lee a lot. Oh and someone said Karen Carpenter. She had an incredibly beautiful voice, so I'd second that.

Janelle Monae and Adele are very entertaining but I don't think they will necessarily be long lived.

Edit: I forgot. Lady Gaga is probably my current favorite.

Not completely my favorite kind of music but Sara Brightman has a really good voice too.

Sarah Brightman is good when she sings her own music, but she is dreadful when she tries to cover opera.

Boney M - These girls could sing, like, every song of theirs and every video I've seen of them signing sounds so perfect, these girls can sing, and the harmony, is why this band were famous, it's Boney M and this is Daddy Cool.
