I was asked recently by another member about what hip hop acts I like.

I gave him a list that will probably end up being too long to digest. IZthe411

Amazingly, there's no thread on this forum with "hip hop" in its name.

This is not acceptable.

Also, let it be known, I detest most mainsteam hip hop post-about-2001.

As such, I'd ask that the shitty mainstream variety be left out of this thread.

If it is good enough that it should override this request, then feel free to post it.

If you're afraid that a hip hop snob might look at you askance for it, please, don't.

respectable choice.

not my fav cup of tea, but respectable.

could you follow the formula, tho, and post one or two of your favorite songs?

*wonders what happened to his 'madvillainy' album*

 because you are totally most hip hop artists' target audience and therefore the authority on what is acceptable.

lol even her friends don't listen to her music

well then, apparently target markets don't exactly matter.

...or perhaps they do.

the suburban white kid with disposable income has been rap's target audience for a long time meow.

i don't think who they expect to spend money on the album and who they're actually writing their lyrics for are the same people at all.

it depends on who you're talking about.

if you think soulja boy's "writing" them for anything but the money, well, i've got a bridge...
