Default Good black and white films

Can anyone recommend some good black and white films? I've been watching a lot of the old universal monsters movies and errol flyn movies but I'm looking for other recommendations.

Anything really, I was thinking about Jimmy Stuart and James Cagney movies, I like some of the earlier gangster movies, did you know that in some of them they used live ammunition in the weapons? I think that adds something to the viewing.

Not entirely black and white but American History X is a very good film.

Harvey and Arsenic and Old Lace are two of my favorite movies and are black and white. Both are comedies that are a little dark.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”
